On eBay Feb 2008:
1961 Jaguar E-type Roaster S1 Outside Catch LHD No 299 All numbers matching HARD TOP NOT INCLUDED
Just in from the dry state of Arizona, all duties and taxes paid. A very early E-type S1 with outside bonnet catches and separate louvres originally Carmen Red with Black Leather upholstery in need of restoration.
The body would require a new bonnet as the old one is damaged beyond ecomomical repair, the doors are the correct early two part ones and are solid, the boot lid is good with the correct early hinges, the boot floor appears to be solid, the rear wings look solid although the right hand side is dented. Whilst the floors look servicable I would recommend replacement whilst the car is apart.
All the correct early chrome work is present with exception of the Butler number plate lights.
The engine is said to have been rebuilt although I dont know to what standard. there is a new, new style alluminium radiator with built in cooling fan non original, new alluminium header tank and alluminium flywheel. The original early style regulator is also present.

I owned this car back in the mid 1990s good to see it found its way back home. Only sold it because I found a lower number car (49)
