Lot 66 at the Dorotheum Auction Sale of Classic Cars at Vosendorf on 3 July 2021. Sold for 182,200 euros. Abbreviated catalogue description below.
www.dorotheum.com/en/l/7252105/
This early open two seater was built on 11th October 1961. What makes it special is not only that it is an early flat floor model and is finished in its unusual, original colour combination of Cream with a Light Blue leather interior but its extensive, documented history. Ordered by Heinz Ostersetzer, an imported of luxury watches in Vienna through the Austrian distributor, Georg Hans Koch in Vienna.
The car was not delivered to Vienna but collected by Mr Ostersetzer from the factory as a Personal Export Delivery. It was registered by Jaguar with UK registration 156WK. Two years later he sold it to Otto Jungbauer, a Linz jeweller and he kept the car until 1969 when it returned to Vienna with its third owner. The car was finally de-registered and taken off the road in 1985.
The vendor found the car in a barn in the Vienna woods. The car was complete but required total restoration. The car was restored to its original specification regardless of cost and using the best specialists. The work is complete and the result is impressive, the quality of the restoration is exceptional and as if that is not enough, its Austrian history makes this impressive sports car unique.
