Ebay 7/5/12
vehicle. It was painted in the late 60's.The engine was rebuilt in the late 70's and has about 5,000 miles on it.
It is a very solid engine. It is all origional with matching numbers. The under frame is solid with no rust holes.
I brought it home, cleaned it up,changed all fluids, cleaned out gas tank, put fresh fuel in it and got it running.
If the buyer is interested I also have a spare engine, tranny, rear end and many parts from a 1963.

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-1961-XKE-Etype-Flat-Floor-Roadster-/230850742101
Opening bid $35,000 reserve price not met, no bids 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Columbus, Ohio. 28k miles.
Sellers description:
Jaguar 1961, Etype roadster, build date October 23, 1961, dispatched November 3, 1961 to the state of Indiana per the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. This Etype roadster is from the first year introduced which features the flat floor design and is a genuine matching numbers example that retains the original date coded components such as correct original Girling shock absorbers, pumpkin colored cylinder head, Moss gear box transmission, original wire wheels with original soft top. This car was last painted about 1970. The paint shows it. The original chrome bumpers are in very good condition as I tried to show with pictures. The engine was rebuilt about 1970 and then put on stands in storage until recently. The Michelin tires are from the 1960's. It was treated to a Shag-uar interior in the early 1970's. With shag carpet and roll and pleated seat covers, door covers and boot cover. I have a top Jaguar Club of North America, 1954 XK120 roadster, and there is nothing like taking this 1961 Etype Roadster to a JCNA Concours event or any event and putting it on display. This car will receive more attention than any of the totally restored others. It's amazing!
This 1961 XKE has solid, amazing straight clean original floors. The body is very straight. I tried to show that in the pictures both floor and sides. No dents and this car does not have any rust. It has all the original space frame and there is no evidence of front or rear damage. The spare tire floor is perfectly sound showing no areas of rust. The top is believed to be original and hasn't been up since the early 70's. The engine was rebuilt in 1970 and I was told has less than 1000 miles. I was told the clutch was replaced and I believe it when driving it. This engine is tuned perfectly, has even 140 PSI on all cylinders, starts perfectly and sounds great. The engine is very clean and does not appear to be leaking. It is charging correctly and all gauges work correctly. The Moss transmission and clutch are in excellent condition and it shifts very well. It down shifts perfectly. The synchronizers are in perfect condition. The engine and transmission mounts have been replaced when the engine was rebuilt. The undercarriage looks great. I have included pictures of these. All the front end bushings are in good condition. It was very well maintained. The brakes work perfectly , the car stops straight without pull. This car is really fast. Truly as fast as any Etype you have driven that has not been modified. That's a big statement. I had a 1967 Etype and this car is so much faster than the 4.2 1967. At 80 mph the engine is doing 3000 RPM's. These 3.8 with this gear ratio are the cars that really can go 150 MPH. This is the best gear ratio for an Etype. This car drives very smoothly. All the lights work correctly as does the charging system and original radio.

My 61 Etype sold for $67,000 on Ebay to an individual that lives in Rouen, Normandy France, 60 miles from Paris . This individual has a restored 67 Etype FHC and a restored 61 TR 4 and does the work himself. He said that he is going to restore the car back to the original color of opalescent dark blue with red leather. That is a great color combination for this car.
