Mr. Donald Damidovich mentioned that he owned this car in the 4/77 issue of Ejag magazine. That even tho titled as a '63 it was shipped from the factory Nov. of '61. The engine number and body number were also mentioned in the text.

Car is undergoing restoration at:
www.thecarnut.com/Jag61silver.html

Description:
1961 Jaguar E-type roadster
VIN number: 875947
Engine R2336-9 (matching head and block)
Silver with black interior and black cloth top
This is a very early series 1 3.8 roadster (built October 1961) with the welded bonnet louvers and flat floors. The car was restored probably 15 years ago to very high standards.
The restoration was starting to show its age and the car is currently being "refreshed". I did an engine compression test and results were very good. I still need to flush all the fluids, rebuild several components and overall made a bit nicer. These early cars are hard to find in good condition and represent an e-type in its purest form. I will be posting better
photos once the car is completed. Target completion date is end of February, 2006.

Price: $69,000

Current bid $22,322 reserve not met, 5 bids, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This is a very early series 1 3.8 roadster (built October 1961) with the welded bonnet louvers, flat floors, and matching number engine. The car had a complete nuts and bolts restoration some years ago to show condition. The restoration is starting to show its age as the car was driven, but it is still in very good #2 condition. If you are looking for an early e-type to drive and not for a trailer queen, this may be the car for you.

Body: Extremely nice! As can be seen from the photos the body gaps are quite good. Not perfect, but that is not to be expected on an early e-type. The floors, rockers, doors, trunk floor, bonnet are all rust free and clean. Undercarriage is detailed and without undercoating .... it is a pleasure to look underneath this car! Paint is very good for a nice driver, not quite up to the standards for a serious show car.

Chrome: Excellent. Wire wheels are also excellent.

Interior and top: Very good. No fading or rips on the leather. Dash top in very good condition. Some wear on the console aluminum panels. Top and boot cover are canvas and in very good condition.

Mechanicals: Very good. I did an engine compression test and all cylinders are strong and even. Oil pressure stays at 40psi at 3000 rpm and at normal temperature. Car has plenty of power! This car had a complete nuts and bolts restoration. Wiring harness, brake lines, front suspension, rear suspension, shocks, etc were either replaced or rebuilt. The complete exhaust system is stainless steel.

Includes: tool roll, knock off hammer, Shelley jack with handle. boot cover (for when the soft top is down), owners manual, lubrication poster

Upgrades: This car was restored with an eye towards originality. It retains its original Blaunpunkt radio in working order, its generator and is still wired as positive ground. A few discreet improvements were made to improve drivability on modern roads... tires are now 205/15 radials, an auxiliary fan was added in front of the radiator mesh and it has a modern sealed battery.

I'm the current owner and purchased it directly from Ivan Ruiz / CarNut. It seems to be fraudulently represented elsewhere.

Since purchase, I've restored the front suspension & exhaust system, installed a full tonneau (Canvas) and fabricated a fire extinguisher (5lb. Halon) mount utilizing existing holes in rear bulkhead.

The seats have been removed and, along with the steering wheel are being restored. Photos to follow.

Car returns to ebay 9/25/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Flat-Floor-1961-Jaguar-E-Type-Open-Two-Sea ...
Current bid $60,250 reserve not met, 1 bid 1 day left in auction.

Sellers description:
1961 Jaguar E-Type
Chassis 875947

Engine R2336-9

Gearbox EB 603 JS

Body R2214
Mileage 54,335 (TMU)

The original colors on this car were Old English White over Red

This car is the 947th LHD Open Two Seater and was built in late October of 1961. It's an early build car with matching numbers and is best classified as a very presentable driver.

Exterior:
The car is a “flat-floor” car and features the early hood which was fitted with "welded louvers". Paint is in good to very good condition and is treated to Griots' products a often as possible. The body is relatively straight but not perfect. Upon my purchase, I was told the car was thoroughly restored roughly 15 years ago. It has been well cared for since. All chrome is in very good condition and fits properly. The top is also to original specification (canvas) and in relatively good condition and is fitted with the original boot cover in addition to a new canvas Toneau cover. The car will also be sold with a newer Covercraft collector car cover.

Interior:
The interior is finished in Black leather, mohair, etc., and it is material-spec correct with recent rebuilds of the central tunnel & console detailing. The black leather seats were completely restored and were refitted with the beautifully patina'd black leather. The car is currently fitted with Ray Brown 3" period racing belts and I do have the black 2" as per standard. The steering wheel is original and has been recently restored. It is different than later cars and is referred to as the “fat” wheel. The aluminum is exposed along the inside of the wheel and the profile of the wood is rounder and thicker with slightly different finger grooves on the back-side. A fire extinguisher is mounted to a professionally fabricated bracket on the rear wall (removable).

Mechanicals:
Engine – The engine runs very well with great oil pressure at both speed and idle, 20 lbs at idle when hot & 50+ at speed. It's been fitted with new O.E. manifolds (yes, the porcelain has already cracked) and features a stainless steel exhaust system from there back. It's been recently fitted with a spin on oil filter for improved flow & filtration (all original parts have been saved). Lastly, a Pertronix coil and distributor have been installed. The Transmission is the original Moss 4 speed and works very well. The clutch is also in workable order and has been fitted with rebuilt master & slave cylinders. At the same time, the slave hose was replaced with a braided unit.
Radiator – it has recently been fitted with a CoolCat replica of the finned aluminum Marston radiator and a new multi-blade fan in place of the original (I have the old parts). Upon updating, all coolant hoses were replaced with kevlar but retained the original Jubilee clamps. The expansion tank was refinished as was the standoff bracket. The car now runs cool even in the extreme temperatures.
The suspension has been gone through and is fitted with new Spax adjustable shocks, torsion bars & adjustable reaction plate. Brakes have been serviced and safety wired.

Because it is such an early car, there are many features that set it apart from other 3.8 E-Types.
Brake Reservoirs – it carries the early-style round brake bottles and the original rounded bracket.
Dated Electricals – All electrical components on the car other than the charging system are original. All dated items, wiper motor and various gauges and relays under the dash carry dates from the Summer of 1961. ALL of the gauges, ALL of the switches, and the entire wiring harness on the car is also original, all components work.Rear Axle - The rear axle assembly is the original very early style lower wishbones with different sized inner bearing races and matching bottom plate and carries its original welded half shafts.
Other – there are many other smaller items on the car that are slightly different than the average 3.8 roadster as well. Various brackets, windshield washer system, correct front tilting license plate holder that folds the front plate down when the bonnet is opened and much of the linkages is slightly different than later cars – all of these items are original to this car and correct.
