I purchased the car about 10 years ago from a Mr. Don Booth who lived in Lakeville, MN. Don owned the car for about 27 years. I traded him a beautiful Recency Red 71 V12 Coupe 2+2 for the car. At that time the car had been repainted but much of the car still needed to be completed and put back together.

I recently completed a total restoration on my car (# 875978). The car was a show/driver quality car but I decided to restore it to a no. 1 show car. I have restored many XKE's over the years; this is only the second one I have ever done to this level.

I just completed a no. 1 show quality restoration on my car. I was a very nice show/driver but I decided to take it to the top. I've restored many XKE's over the past 30 years but this is only the second time I have done a 100% restoration at this level.

For sale on eBay UK for £299,000
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1961-E-type-Jaguar-Flat-Floor-Roadster-XKE-/281523497878
This Number's Matching 1961 SR I E-type "Flat Floor" being offered for sale is one of the finest Concours level SR I E-type Show Cars on the market. It's truly a piece of art; the car's Laser Straight sheet metal, Consistent body panel gaps, and Brilliant Opalescent Silver Blue Paint Finish sets this car apart from any other E-type on the market today. The same attention to detail is carried throughout the car including the trunk area, engine bay, under carriage, and exterior making it a Superb investment Quality Car.
I have been collecting, restoring, and showing Classic Jaguars for 40 years, and an active member in the Classic Jaguar Community as a technical advisor, a club officer/board member, and judge at various shows. This car is one of many E-types I've collected and restored over the past 40 years; it is the flagship of my collection. I have owned it for over 20 years and since its recent restoration I've driven it very sparingly and it has been used ONLY for show. The car has ONLY 54,500 original miles since new, and approximately 1000 miles since being restored.
As seen by the photographs the restoration was very comprehensive. It was done at an astronomical cost with no expense spared. The car was a solid straight 2-owner car when I purchased it; not something pieced together and restored over cancerous sins that will surface over time. All of the sheet metal is the original factory sheet metal as you'll see in the restoration photos. If you take the opportunity to call me you will learn that I am very meticulous and you will have a better understanding as to the quality level of this car.
The car also comes with many rare accessories typically NOT FOUND on most of the early SR I E-types on the market today including, but not limited to, the Rare Removable Hard Top, Optional Tonneau Cover, Workshop Manual, Owner's Handbook, Boot Cover, Center Console Protector, Seat Belts, Car Cover, Display Board, Jaguar Specification Sheet, Show Floor Mats, and Original and Very Rare Tool Roll, Bottle Nose Jack, 1961-62 full aluminum insert Steering Wheel, and Original Radio Console. The Convertible Top, Tonnearu Cover, and Boot Cover are all made of high quality Stayfast material.
This car also sports Dayton Stainless Steel Wire Wheels, a Porcelain Exhaust Manifold, Stainless Steel Exhaust Pipes, etc.
In terms of documentation, the car includes a Heritage Certificate of Authenticity, and detailed documentation and photos of the car's restoration.
As collector cars continue to become a primary investment in many people's portfolio, investors / collectors are looking for the best of the best to secure their investments. The 1961 E-type "Flat Floor" is the Holy Grail when fulfilling this investment requirement. They are rare, exotic, first of the E-types, and truly an important milestone in both Jaguar's history and the world of sports cars.
RESTORATION DETAILS
· Body - sheet metal / paint finish
o Sheet metal - as seen by the restoration photos, this car had a rust-free body so it required very little sheet metal work except for straight-lining and adjustments to the metal to achieve a laser straight body and perfect panel gaps throughout.
o Paint finish - the body and sub-frame were stripped down to the bare metal, and numerous coats of color and clear coat were applied, wet sanded, and then buffed to a brilliant finish - wet sanding included the engine bay and the trunk interior which is typically not done due the expense.
o Sub-frame - Stripped / painted along with the body
It's the quality of the paint finish and sheet metal work on this car that sets it apart from any other E-type on the market.

The flat floor cars were not supplied with footrests. The earliest car I have seen with one supplied from the factory was made in mid 1963. (The car was purchased from the original owner and the footrest was supplied with the car when new). The footrest is shaped in a way that it will only fit in a car with foot wells.

This car and photos and information from it is presently for sale in the Auto Trader.ca. It is a false ad that has been circulating around for a while, for sale at 65,000 Canadian.
I emailed the thieves and got a reply from Marissa Cramer 804 6313161 sales@southcarsales.com . They also gave this link of the photos

These photos were also stolen from original photos. This info also came with the email. It appears that the thieves are using old info from an actual car dealer.

This 1961 Jaguar 3.8L E-Type Roadster was completed on November 1, 1961 and then imported by Jaguar Cars New York. Its first owner was R.W. Loveland in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It's number 978 of 1,581 flat-floor roadsters produced in left-hand drive (LHD). The exterior was originally finished in Opalescent Dark Green with Suede Green interior and a French Grey top. It was purchased by a local Jaguar collector and client of Fox Motorsports out of a private collection in Minnesota in January of 2015. That Minnesota owner had recently completed a comprehensive, show-quality restoration of the body and interior of the car including thorough engine detailing--plating, paint, etc (records on file). Upon arrival in Michigan, a full inspection revealed a beautiful car needing mechanical sorting (see below full work list).
This early Jaguar E-Type is stunning in its current factory color combination. The body work and paint are finished to a high standard, complimented by equally impressive chrome trim. The interior is also excellent. With the recent mechanical improvements, this E-Type is now a beautiful, well-sorted example ready to show or drive.

Seller's description:
Opalescent Silver Blue with Dark Navy Blue Leather and Dark Blue Top; Early-Production Flat-Floor E-Type (#978); Roadster, Numbers Matching; 3.8-liter 6-cylinder Engine, Moss 4-speed, Cosmetically and Mechanically Restored to a High Level; 4 Owners from New; Excellent Records with Tons of Recent Service Work.
This 1961 Jaguar 3.8L E-Type Roadster was completed at Browns Lane in Coventry England on November 1, 1961. The car was then imported to the USA by Jaguar Cars New York. This E-Type is number 978 of 1,581 flat-floor Roadsters produced in left-hand drive (LHD) and was originally finished in Opalescent Dark Green with Suede Green interior and a French Grey convertible top. The current colors are Jaguar period-correct Opalescent Silver Blue exterior with Dark Navy Blue interior and Dark Blue top.
The original owner was R.W. Loveland in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Around 1967, the E-Type was sold to Mr. D. Booth of Lakeville, Minnesota. Mr. Booth kept the car for nearly 30 years, selling the car in 1995 to Minnesota Jaguar collector, Mr. G. Berghoff. In 2007, Mr. Berghoff completed a comprehensive restoration of the body and interior and performed a thorough engine detailing including plating and painting as well as additional work meticulously recorded in the included restoration records. Mr. Berghoff owned the car for more than 20 years before selling it in 2015 to the current owner (and long-time Fox Motorsport client) in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
This E-type Roadster is in excellent condition and has been kept under our fastidious care since arrival in Grand Rapids in 2015. The body work and paint are finished to a high standard, complimented by excellent chrome and interior details. It has had regular cleaning and annual waxing and chrome polishing regardless of use. Extensive mechanical work was performed by Fox Motorsports (see below work list). The car starts, runs, and drives as it should and has covered 872 miles since 2015. The E-Type has never been driven in snow/salt and has always been kept in climate-controlled storage (and on a battery tender) when not in use.
Items included with the car: Jaguar Heritage Certificate, two sets of carpet floor mats, cockpit tonneau cover, boot cover, tool roll and tools, original "Shelley" jack, car cover, show presentation board, owner’s handbook in original pouch, and front license plate bracket assembly.
