Car to be at auction 7/18
www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2018-07-07/cars/ref-89-1961-jagaur-e-type-se ...

Auction description;
Brooklands Motor Museum
July 7th 2018
Lot 200 - 1961 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster 'Flat Floor'
Registration AOD 22A
Chassis Number 876189
Engine Number R 2776-9
Estimate £120,000 - £150,000

Originally despatched from Jaguar Cars on 5th December 1961 to their dealer in New York, this 'Flat Floor' E-Type was repatriated to the UK and registered on 1st November 1989. It appears she was restored in the late 1980s and at that time, had a colour change from the original Opalescent Silver Blue to the current colour of red and black interior. Now in right hand drive format, we are advised by the vendor she appears to be a quite sound example and runs well, although she has been used very little over the last few years and would benefit from some time and financial investment. Early Series I E-Types continue to attract commanding prices and this Jaguar appears to be attractively estimate given the fact she is a 1961 'Flat Floor' example.

Engine size: 3800 CC

At Hampshire Classics we have 43 years’ experience of taking care of beautiful cars and, as a specialist storage facility, we look after a number of incredible vehicles. Occasionally, we are asked to sell some of these cars and we are proud to offer this attractive Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Flat Floor for sale.

Ideal for the person looking for a flat floor E Type to carry out a light restoration. Only 3 owners from new, this vehicle was originally despatched from Jaguar Cars on 5th December 1961 to their dealer in New York This ‘Flat Floor’ E-Type was repatriated to the UK and registered on 1st November 1989. It appears she was restored in the late 1980s and at that time, was converted to right-hand drive and had a colour change from the original Opalescent Silver Blue to the current colour of red and black interior.

The current owner was looking to put the car back to it’s original colour of the stunning Opalescent Silver Blue but never got round to it. This vehicle only needs minor bodywork and is in solid order with no welding required to the bodywork. The engine runs, the compression is good and it just requires minor replacements of bushes, hoses, etc. It is therefore a straightforward restoration for someone looking for a flat floor Series 1 E-Type to restore as a minor project.

The car has a large file of bills, etc. as well as photos of the restoration from the 1980’s, old tax discs and MOT Certificates, etc.

The owner is looking to move the car on so that he can concentrate on other cars in his collection and would like to receive best offers over £95,000.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
