Current bid $7,597 reserve not met, 17 bids, 5 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
1962 Jaguar XKE Roadster, in very good running condition with 66,747 original miles and very little rust. We have a clean New Jersey title ready to be signed over to the new owner. The Vin number is 876211.

The engine in the car is not the original 3.8 liter but was replaced in 1967 with a 4.2 liter Series 1 engine. The engine block and head number is 7E.52778-9. The engine is equipped with triple SU carburetors. The engine starts ands runs good. The carburetors have recently been cleaned and rebuilt. The engine will start and run well but the carburetors need to be synced and tuned for the engine to run perfectly. The engine does not smoke and there are no knocks or unusual noises coming from the engine. We were told the engine; transmission and suspension were rebuilt before we bought it. Judging by the condition of these items we believe this to be true.

As far as we know the transmission in the car is the original transmission. We drove the car up and down the driveway a few times and it shifts fine.

The body on the car is in good shape. The body is straight except for a minor ding in the driver side door. It could be easily fixed. I know that the car does look that great with all the different colors of paint but it is a straight and rust free body that is ready to be sanded down and given a new coat of paint.

The interior pieces are all there with the exception of the carpet. We have a set of Series 2 seats and we also have the correct seat frames for a Series 1 Roadster. The Series 1 frames have some rust but could be used to restore to have the correct seats. The door panels are in okay shape but they would really need to be recovered to put back on the car. All of the hardware for the doors is packed into boxes. The floor pans are original flat floor with a few minor rust through holes.

The center console on the car is the original circular-pattern aluminum with many badges added from the cars early history in autocross and rallies. The rear suspension arm mounting point has been reinforced to body with a metal brace. We assume this was done early on with the cars auto crossing history.

We have all the exterior trim for the car, except for the front turn signals and front headlight covers. We have all four bumpers and all the trim for the windshield. We have brand new trim stripes that run along the tops of the fender. We have a brand new windshield still packed in the box.

The car was purchased by us in 2000. We had intentions of restoring it but have too many projects and regret to have to part with it. The gentleman we bought was a British car enthusiast, and had owned it from the early 1980's and he had started the restoration focusing on mechanical aspects of the car first.

The following is a list of the parts we have in boxes. Two new headlight "sugar scoops," cam centering tool, two chrome interior window cranks, two each chrome interior and exterior door handles, rear backup light, three windshield wipers and arms, spare fuel pump, rear view mirror and holding rod, spare pedal assembly, spare starter, and a chrome roll hoop for drivers side.

The car is located in Flemington NJ 08822.

Winning bid was $16,300, to my eye a bit of a bargain for a flat-floor E-Type, even with a replacement XK mill in it.
