Hello Dorothee, it looks like your car will be at auction 2/25

artcurial-maya.com/en/sales/6144/lots/83-a

Auction description:

Arcturial Sale n°6144, Rétromobile 2025

French title

Chassis No 879428 Engine No R 2024-9

Collection of an E-Type enthusiast

- Beautiful “Sherwood Green” colour since new

- Full older restoration

- Improvements for modern driving

The current owner acquired this roadster in 2020 to pair it with his 1963 3.8L coupe, after patiently searching for an example of the same year. It was through Classic Garage that he found this Series 1 in 2020. As stated on the Jaguar Heritage certificate, chassis No 879428 left the factory on the 16th May 1963, before being shipped to Jaguar Cars in New York who took delivery of it on the 22nd May of the same year. At that time, it was in the desirable Sherwood Green colour with a Tan interior and a black soft top.

The elegant roadster returned to Europe in 2015. It benefited from a full restoration in accordance with its original colours, while the leather interior was tastefully redone in a colour close to olive green. The engine has had the usual upgrades for those who want to drive comfortably: electric fan, more powerful starter and alternator. Although, the Moss gearbox was kept for the sake of authenticity. The hood is in good condition and the tonneau cover was recently redone. An old-fashioned Bluetooth car radio was also installed. Contact, a light press of the starter button and the engine starts instantaneously. Well adjusted and inspected in 2024, this E-Type is a pleasure to drive and has been serviced for regular use.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
