Car at auction 3/25

www.aguttes.com//lot/160416/28370083-jaguar-type-e-roadster-1963-chassis-ndeg-87 ...?

Auction description:

1963 Jaguar E-Type Roadster

Estimate €80,000 - €100,000

Aguttes - La Vente de Printemps, Paris, France

16 March, 2025

Lot 19

Chassis No. 879994

French collector's registration document

Sold new in France by the importer Royal-Elysées, our Type E was acquired by its current owner in 1981. It is presented today in satisfactory condition. Its bodywork was repainted in 2000, the paint is well stretched and has a beautiful appearance, some chips and defects are nevertheless to be noted.

Its interior is in its original condition, the bucket seats have a beautiful patina; the carpets, door panels and the dashboard have been restored in the past, as has the hood which was replaced in 2000.

Originally equipped with a 3.8 l, under the hood we find a 4.2 l 6-cylinder associated with a manual gearbox. Our roadster benefited from a major overhaul in 2020 for more than €4,700, only 400 km have been covered since.

The engine starts well and runs smoothly, our road test showed a fault in the clutch which slips during sharp acceleration. It should be noted that the last technical inspection carried out in February is a counter-inspection. Presented at an attractive estimate, this French Type E represents an interesting opportunity.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
