Registration CBU 344B
Chassis Number 880513

This beautiful E-Type Roadster was originally manufactured in November 1963 for export to the USA. The car which still retains all of its original body panels due to spending most of its life in California was repatriated to the UK and first registered here in 2014. This example has recently undergone a full bare metal respray in Signal Red as well as a complete interior re-trim in biscuit leather, including a new hood and , as a consequence, presents fabulously.
Coupled to the cosmetic work, other recent improvements have included, the installation of renowned Jaguar specialist M & C Wilkinson fast-road 3.8 litre engine, incorporating big valve head with high-lift cams, forged pistons and lightened/balanced flywheel with a new Rob Beere supplied clutch. The engine is coupled to a later 4.2 litre all synchromesh E-type gearbox, making it a quick and more driveable car with output circa 300bhp, running on new triple Weber carbs with a new Ecosse six branch big bore exhaust. The front suspension and rear suspension have all been set up using Polybushes and, we are told, all elements of the car have either been overhauled or replaced so now "on the button and ready to go and enjoy".
Within the history file is a Heritage Certificate and an MoT test certificate valid until August 2018. This is an evocative beautiful example of the iconic 3.8 litre Roadster with all the trappings of performance and drivability that owners may covet, with Series I prices still rising, this represents a properly quick and extremely well engineered example.

For sale at Auto Emporium Cumbria of Dalton in Furness for £112,500. Seller's description below.
www.autoemporiumcumbria.co.uk/cars/jaguar/e-type/3.8-series-one/1161266/
E Type Convertible 3.8 litre Series One. This car was originally exported to the United States on 15 November 1963. It has spent its life in California until 2014 when it returned to the UK and was converted to RHD. The car's main monocoque body has never been restored and still retains its original panels, which are in remarkably sound condition, no doubt preserved by the dry Californian climate. It has had a bare metal respray in Carmen Red followed by a full re-trim in Biscuit leather and a new hood has been fitted. The chrome work has mostly been re-chromed.
Over the past three years a full mechanical rebuild was undertaken including a total engine rebuild, a rebuilt all synchromesh gearbox installed, lightened flywheel clutch, high torque starter motor, front and rear suspension rebuilds with platform adjustable shock absorbers and rebuilt diff, alternator, uprated 4 pot calliper front brakes, electronic ignition, plus many other upgrades. Whilst this car does have some paint flaws and does not have a matching number engine or gearbox it has had a lot of money spent on it since coming back to the UK, It is ready to use and enjoy.
