Like most early E-Types this car started its life over in the states. It spent its entire life under the Californian sun, Santa Barbara to be exact. During its life in the US, two owners loved and cared for the car comprehensively, with invoices to both individuals for servicing and maintenance present.
It made its way across the pond around 2015, where it underwent a conversion to right-hand-drive, an overhaul to the interior amongst other things. In 2019 it was purchased by a Jaguar enthusiast and collector, who shortly after commissioned extensive works before locking the car away to focus on other Jaguar restoration projects. The passionate individual sadly passed before further restoration could be carried out.
Included with the car is a spectacular history file, with invoices and paperwork present from its early years all the way through to its latest owners commissions. The most recent paperwork is for the extensive work carried out by Classic Car specialists Fraser Eitel.
The Interior
Immaculate leather and carpet
Retrimmed circa 2015
Gorgeous colour
The interior of this E-Type certainly stands out. With bright red leather and carpet throughout, its unmissable beauty brings an elaborate aura to an otherwise civilised style. The car was converted to right hand drive some 6/7 years ago which allowed the opportunity to renew and retrim the interior, the owner chose to keep to the original red colour and styling which is finished splendidly and still in wonderful condition.
This is a splendid and joyful car to sit in, it’s difficult not to feel exhilarated beyond measure with your hands wrapped around its wooden steering wheel. Pure and unmatched class.
The Exterior
Various blemishes throughout
Original untouched factory paint
Hood in great order
This car, simply put, is phenomenal. ‘’The most beautiful car ever made’’ said Enzo and 60 years on his words still ring true.
From every angle this car is gorgeous, the original Cream paint maybe a bit bruised but the car still carries an elegance only a Jag E Type could. Blemishes, scratches and dents are present throughout plus the chrome bumpers are starting to show a little pitting but we’re told this car's exterior is untouched since leaving the factory.
The roof was renewed at the same time as the interior and is in great condition. With that roof folded away, you’re hit with the realism of how good this open two seater looks and can only imagine how good it must feel to drive one of these incredible cars.
The Mechanics
3.8L Straight Six
Converted to RHD
Restoration work totaling close to £10,000
Genuine 92,714 miles
On request the 3.8L straight six fired up with no issue and ticked over confidently as it awaited to be manoeuvred. The roar from these 3.8’s is unforgettable, shivers are sent down spines and flashbacks to pictures on bedroom walls are initiated.
Extensive work was carried out in 2020, with invoices totaling close to £10,000, numerous parts were renewed including a complete stainless steel exhaust system, brakes, rear axle, clutch hydraulics to name a few. A 123 ignition was also fitted. Several times the car was started and manoeuvred, gear changes and steering were pleasant and unproblematic.
The car has rarely been used but is thought to be in good running order thanks to the substantial recent work.
