This 1964 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was acquired by the current owners in 1984, and it is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in Opalescent Dark Blue over dark blue leather, the car is equipped with a black soft top, a soft top boot, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, an AM/FM radio, and a heater. This XKE Series I roadster is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owners with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a clean Minnesota title in the owners’ names.
This example is finished in Opalescent Dark Blue and was repainted in 2004. A replacement black soft top was installed the following year, the windshield was replaced in 2013, and a replacement boot cover installed in 2019. Additional equipment includes enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes chrome flaking on a bumper overrider.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The front wheel hubs and bearings were replaced in 2021.
The cabin was refurbished over four decades ago and features bucket seats upholstered in dark blue leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include textured aluminum dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, an AM/FM radio, and a heater. A tear on the driver’s seat is visible.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 60k miles, approximately 10k of which were added under current ownership. The tachometer and clock are inoperative.
The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt in 1989 and stainless steel mufflers were added in the early 1990s. An oil change was performed in 2021.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Moss four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates. The seller notes the factory chassis plate is missing.
