1964 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster

Chassis no. 881715

Engine no. RA7144-9

*Exquisite nut-and-bolt restoration to factory specifications

*Matching numbers example presented in triple-black livery

*Stunning Series I E-Type Roadster ready to be shown at Concours events or driven on rallies

*Accompanied by Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and restoration records

Completed at Jaguar's Browns Lane works on June 18, 1964, this lovely Series I 3.8-Liter Roadster was configured with left-hand drive steering and destined for the North American market. The new Jaguar was dispatched from the works on June 29, 1964, and headed to Jaguar Cars New York, which is listed as the selling dealer on the Jaguar issued Heritage Trust Certificate.

In recent years, this spectacular Jaguar has been subject of a comprehensive restoration. Some of the finer details of the restoration include a refurbishment of the engine and an overhaul of the transmission with new bearings, seals, and gaskets. The body was brought down to bare metal and received a fresh coat of shiny black paint. In addition, the interior was fully trimmed in matching black leather and appropriate materials. The electrical system was wholly refurbished as well, and a new wiring harness was installed. Additionally, the chassis was media blasted and the suspension components received equal attention. Far more work was carried out than can be fully detailed within this brief description, but it is reported that the work done to bring this Series I into its stunning condition was thoroughly comprehensive.

Most importantly, the original engine and cylinder head have remained with the car since leaving the factory. The car will be accompanied by restoration records and its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. Expertly restored E-Types, like the one presented here, are highly sought after by collectors all around the world. With the vehicle on offer being in such fine condition, there is no better opportunity to put yourself behind the wheel of one of the most iconic sports cars of the 20th Century

A Lovely E-Type Ready for the Concours or Open Road

According to its accompanying JDHT Certificate, this stunning E-Type Series I Roadster was built on June 18, 1964, and originally finished in Opalescent Maroon over a maroon interior and fitted with a black soft top. On August 29th of that year, it was dispatched to North American distributor Jaguar Cars in New York.

While the Jaguar’s earlier history is not known, a substantial file of photos and parts receipts document a thorough restoration completed while in previous ownership by noted Jaguar specialist Images Auto Body in Campbell, California. Finished in 2016, the work included stripping of the bodywork to bare metal, replacing or refinishing all fasteners and trim, and reupholstering the interior in black leather. In 2019, the consignor hired Seattle-based Randall Fehr Restorations to service the E-Type, and sort numerous small issues, noted on invoices on file. Accompanied by tool and jack kits, the Roadster has been enjoyed by the consignor for the exhilarating driving experience that these cars are so renowned for.

More recently, in February 2021, work was performed on the cooling system, as invoices on file indicate. Significantly, the engine and cylinder head both display matching numbers to those shown on the JDHT certificate, contributing to a highly desirable package.
