You ask in the engine photo if it's right. The number above the oil filter head on the block should match the number stamped on the builder's plate on the top of the right sill in the engine bay. On an early car, the head should also be stamped on the vertical surface just in front of the first spark plug.
Those valve covers were used from 68 on...and the alternator is definitely later. But the numbers will tell you.

Sorry, should add it's not completely uncommon to find these covers on earlier engines, especially on unrestored but well-used cars, as they don't crack like the early ones do.

Marc. Looks like you have a nice project with some additional interesting features from Fisher. I guess the answer to whether you should keep the body modifiactions or not would depend on how they look. Photograph them well and keep the pieces if you decide to go back to the original form then you can always reverse the process.
I used to live also in Mannheim (worked with John Deere) but now live in Belgium. I however pass by on a regular basis still. If you need any help then let me know.

Interesting details about the car:
First delivery to an architekt from Geneva Switzerland in exact the same colour combination as the Geneva exhibition car (885005 - opalescent gun metal / beige). Maybe ordered at the show - one of the 500 orders received at the show, if there were orders for FHC up to 123 LHD pieces or more --> highly probable.
Moreover, the tank is an early outside bonnet latch tank plus sump. Most likely a left over in the shelfs as it does not seem to have been changed. Bit who can tell after that time. History can be chased back up to 1967. After that the tank was not changed.... Or beforehand swapt? Maybe with 885005 ;) ;)-;)

First in disassembly process. Some good and rare stuff on the car. Some stuff is missing or wrong.
Current aim: original outside colour, but not beige inside. Maybe bright blue or kind of tabak colour. Car to return back to original spec as far as possible with exception of 5-speed gearbox and maybe tuned head, better period brakes and uprated suspension.
But details as butlers lights, early split carb shaft, seats and runners and much more will be reinstalled...
