This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that was purchased new from Al Pernett Imported Cars of Riverside, California, and would spend time in England on display at E-Type UK before returning to California in 2014. The car reportedly won first-in-class awards at the 2017 Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance and 2021 Carmel Concours on the Avenue following the seller’s acquisition in August 2014. Finished in Opalescent Dark Blue over red upholstery, the car is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes chrome 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, triple SU carburetors, re-chromed bumpers, and a Jaguar-branded push-button radio. Work during current ownership is said to have included overhauling the rear axle and brake calipers and replacing the fuel tank and clutch slave cylinder. This XKE coupe shows 30k miles and is offered with removed and spare parts, a black California license plate, a tool kit, historical photos, manufacturer’s literature, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, initial purchase documents, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Assembly of the car was completed on November 16, 1962, and the body is finished in Opalescent Dark Blue. Details include covered headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, and chrome split bumpers with overriders along with three windshield wipers, a side-hinged hatch, and polished central exhaust outlets. The seller states paintwork was performed on the left side of the car and the right door, the bumpers were re-plated, and replacement door seals were installed during current ownership.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 6.40-15 Dunlop Road Speed RS5 tires. The wheels were reportedly balanced and trued during current ownership. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Additional work following the seller’s November 2015 purchase included overhauling the brake calipers.

The cabin is equipped with replacement low-back bucket seats trimmed in red upholstery along with a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpets. The removed factory seats are included in the sale. Additional appointments include a toggle switch panel, bright trim, a passenger grab handle, and Jaguar-branded push-button radio.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an analog clock, and centrally positioned auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 30k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added under current ownership.

The 3.8-liter inline-six is fed by triple SU carburetors and peak output was factory rated at 265 horsepower. Engine compartment crayon markings are present. A replacement fuel tank is said to have been installed under current ownership, and oil and coolant leaks are present.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. During the seller’s ownership, the clutch slave cylinder is said to have been replaced and the rear axle was overhauled in 2021 by XKs Unlimited of San Luis Obispo, California.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate details colors, production information, serial numbers, and distribution through Jaguar Cars of New York.

The car is featured in the July 2013 issue of Jaguar World Monthly, and additional documentation included in the sale consists of the manufacturer’s literature, a Jaguar Clubs of North America concours score sheet, previous registration paperwork, February 1963-dated purchase paperwork, and historical images. The car is said to have received first-in-class awards at both the 2017 Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance and 2021 Carmel Concours on the Avenue, and reportedly participated in the 2011 Quail Motorsports Gathering.

The frame stamping is 887530 and VIN on the current California title includes a prefix of J63.
