    Auction description:

    Lot 84

    1963 Jaguar Type E 3,8 L coupé série 1

    Estimation 100,000 - 150,000 € [$]

    Sold 119,200 €

    French title

    Chassis No 887992

    - Sold new in France

    - Matching numbers

    - Rare 3.8-litre Series 1, the most iconic version of the E-Type model

    - Original and excellent maintenance

Particularly sought after, it is even rarer to find a model that was delivered new in France, just like the one on offer here, imported by Delecroix and registered on 29 March 1963. This car has never been restored and has retained a wonderful patina. Both the bodywork in original blue colour and the original upholstery in beige leather radiate a genuine scent of authenticity which brings you on a journey through time. In the hands of the same owner for 20 years, this E-Type was regularly and meticulously serviced by the specialist O-One next to Paris. Many recent invoices included in the file are proofs to the latter. A road test on Parisian cobbled streets enabled us to witness that the engine runs flawlessly, with no unpleasant vibrations to report; the running gear and damping were particularly taken care of, in order to fully enjoy the drive in this beautiful car. In its "matching numbers" configuration, only the seat belts were added by the previous owner, but it is worth noting that this was an original option in period! To conclude, this exceptional E-Type coupe has never been stripped down and has received the best care that it deserved! This is a rare opportunity to acquire a vehicle that can be enjoyed without moderation, while preserving the marks of time which it has retained so well.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
