Not just another low mileage survivor. Here is an untouched E type Coupe in near showroom conditon. Same owner for fifty one years. Sold new in Portland, Oregon. Properly maintained and stored in the same heated garage its entire life. Taken out of regular service in 1966 (at 22,000 miles) it has not seen wet pavement since LBJ was in the White House. Just under 34,000 total miles since new. 100% original paint,interior and chrome, all in mint conditon. No dents. A few touched up stone chips on the bonnet. That's it. The factory applied paint is stunning with depth and shine that is hard to believe. Chrome is unblemished, no pitting and no scratches anywhere.

Extensive mechanical service just completed. Complete brake job, all hydraulics, new fuel system ( tank to carbs ) and new stainless exhaust. Eveything works except the original radio. Simply unforgettable, the Jaguar E-Type honored its maker’s brilliant racing heritage and revolutionized the sports car concept in one stroke at its 1961 Geneva debut. While almost relentless development kept the E-Type competitive on track and maintained its relevance through three distinct series, the firstgeneration 3.8-litre examples occupy a particularly special place in the hearts and minds of enthusiasts.

This 3.8-Litre Fixed Head Coupe, chassis 888582, is surely one of the most compelling and exceptionally original examples ever to come to market. An original left-hand-drive example, it was built on April 29, 1963, finished in the rare color scheme of Opalescent Maroon over black leather. Purchased new by Donald F. Gregg of Portland, Oregon, via British Motor Car Distributors Inc., the E-Type was retained and preserved by him until 2014. Throughout his five decades of ownership, the E-Type was properly garaged when not in use, and according to documents chronicling the tire replacement in September 1969 at 28,961 recorded miles, Mr. Gregg only drove the Jaguar approximately 5,000 additional miles during his ownership.

The second owner, John Phillips, acquired the E-Type directly from Mr. Gregg in 2014, and wonderful photographs on file commemorate the occasion. Following a major mechanical service and careful detailing, with original parts cleaned, serviced, and preserved wherever possible, Mr. Phillips showed the E-Type at a JCNA Concours in 2015, scoring 99.85 points, with the only deductions made on the aging manifold porcelain. The third owner, Herve Lebasse, purchased the vehicle from Mr. Phillips in June 2017 at 33,938 miles, and elected to fully rebuild the engine, in addition to servicing the heating and cooling systems, and installing new wire-spoke wheels and period-correct tires, while retaining the original wheels and the tires purchased by Mr. Gregg in 1969 for exhibition. During Mr. Lebasse’s ownership, this wonderfully preserved E-Type was inspected by noted Jaguar restorer Dave Fergusson, who found the car exceptionally and irreplaceably original and correct throughout. The consignor reports that, even today, the 34,000-mile E-Type retains its factory-original Opalescent Maroon paint and leather upholstery, and that the chassis, body, and engine numbers all match the factory production records.

In addition to a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, this E-Type is accompanied by its original owner’s manual with storage pouch, maintenance booklet, jack, tool kit, and grease gun. Still wearing its original Oregon license plates and BMCD dealer frame, the E-Type’s many fascinating items include the original lighter tag, key chain, and Michelin tire warranty booklet, plus 1960s rally placards, JCNA judging sheets, and Oregon registration paperwork from the original owner, extensive history and service records, plus over 350 photos – all contained in a custom shadow display box for posterity.

This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that was completed on April 29, 1963. It was purchased by its first owner from British Motor Car Distributors of Portland, Oregon, and remained under his ownership until 2014. A rebuild of the 3.8-liter inline-six was performed in 2019, at which time a cooling system service was performed and chrome 72-spoke wire-spoke wheels were installed. It was purchased by the selling dealer in 2022. The car is finished in Opalescent Maroon over black leather upholstery, and equipment includes a four-speed manual gearbox, triple SU carburetors, 15” wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a BMCD Custom AM radio. This XKE scored a 99.85 at the 2015 Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours d’Elegance and is now offered with factory literature and tags, tools, 1960s rally placards, Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificates, JCNA Concours judging sheets, service records, notes from the 2019 mechanical work, photos of the car with its original owner, and a Texas title.

The body is finished in Opalescent Maroon and features split chrome bumpers, triple windshield wipers, glass headlight covers, and dual exhaust outlets. The bumpers were replated in April 2017, and the Amco bumper bars removed at that time are included in the sale. A collection of Triplex glass etchings can be seen in the gallery along with paint meter readings.

The replacement 15” chrome 72-spoke wire wheels were installed in March 2018, and they are mounted with two-eared knock-off hubs and Universal Sport radial tires. A matching spare wheel with a Michelin tire is mounted under the rear cargo floor. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes with inboard rear units.

The cabin features low-back seats trimmed in black leather upholstery along with matching door panels, sills, sides of the console, and carpets. Textured aluminum trims the dashboard and center console, and additional equipment includes a BMCD Custom AM radio, a heater, a cigar lighter, lap belts, and a gray cloth headliner.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline. Gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature are mounted in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 34k miles.

The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU side-draft carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower. The engine was rebuilt in 2019 and fitted with replacement bearings, valves and guides, head studs, freeze plugs, gaskets, and seals. The water pump was rebuilt and heater core was also overhauled at that time. Work in 2019 by George Beavis Maschine Shop of Vallejo, California, included polishing the camshafts and crankshaft as well as resurfacing the cylinder head.

Cylinder head stamping RA 1902–9 matches the engine block stamping and is listed on both included Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificates. Gearbox stamping EB 10050 JS.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission that was removed and fitted with replacement gaskets and seals in 2019. A clutch plate and throwout bearing were also fitted at that time. A replacement exhaust system was sourced from Jaguar Classic and installed in 2017.

The Jaguar Production Record Trace Certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.

The Texas title is listed as a certified copy and notes “VIN certification waived” under the remarks section.
