Ebay item 6/11/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-3-8L-MATCHING-S-COUPE-WITH-56K-ORIGINAL-MILES-/38 ...
Opening bid US $50,000 reserve not met no bids 6 days left in auction, buy it now price $95,500.
Sellers description:
West Coast Classics are proud to present an extraordinarily rare and completely rust free genuine 'barn find' example of this coveted original southern California 1964 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series I coupe with a highly desirable 4 speed manual transmission and with it's original matching #'s 3.8L 265HP 6 cylinder engine with original triple SU carburetors and with its all original black interior with wooden steering wheel and original five factory chrome wire knock-off wheels and tools!
This is a truly marvelous mostly all original and stock example of this coveted first series of E-Type. This fine example has been in the same southern California family ownership for over 40 years! So here it is, a completely unrestored southern California 1964 Jaguar XKE E-Type Series 1 Coupe with the 4 speed manual transmission coupe and with it's original matching #'s engine, factory tools, jack, mallet and spare chrome wire wheel!
The car is reported to have only some 56K original miles by its previous long time owner who purchased the car many years ago from its original southern California owner and who had stored it in his dry southern California enclosed garage and had only driven it some 4,500 miles since 1977, with it being mostly garaged and unserviced since 1977! The original owner was reportedly a meticulous engineer who kept a documented history of the cars service history until 1977 by using the by then customary tradition of periodically engraving the cars service history on the inside of the cars hood. We recently purchased the car from this second southern California owner and following its purchase we delivered it to our local independent Jaguar specialist, the renown 'Frank McLain & Sons' of Encino, CA (who has been in the same location since 1963!) who went through the car completely mechanically for us, completing the following work over a period of several weeks at a cost of over $13,000 to us personally with service records available;
R&R radiator for repair
Replace coolant hoses
Replace thermostat
Replace water pump
R&R fuel tank for service
Replace fuel pump
New battery
($4,059.12)
R&R 2 brake master cylinders
Replae brake vacuum hoses & brake booster bellows
R&R Front brake calipers
R&R Rear end to repair brake hydraulics
R&R front & rear brake rotors for machine work
R&R differential cage
R&R rear brake wheel cylinders
Replace fluid reservoirs & hoses
Replace front & rear brake pads
Replace trailing arm bushings
R&R subframe mounts
Flush block
($6,814.53)
R&R Engine cooling fan motor assembly for rebuild
R&R 3 Carburetor jets
Replace starter solenoid switch
Repair generator
($1,201.62)
Free up carburetor linkage
Remove dash pots & free up piston assembly
Install new spark plugs
Install clutch master & slave cylinder
($757.70)
R&R steering column
Replace 2 bushings
($349.88)
Obviously the car now therefore drives very well and as a razor straight and completely rust free California car, it is a prime candidate for a full cosmetic restoration for the Jaguar enthusiast or simply a great daily driver for any classic British sports car lover! The floor boards and all the typical rust-prone areas are completely solid, original and rust-free! The car has no signs of any accidents of any kind and has a razor straight body with what seems to be a lot of its original paint. It sports its original factory 'Pale Primrose' color paint which has some light scratches and imperfections from its many years spent 'unattended' in the garage and yet the car's all original interior is still quite impressive with both front bucket seats, the door panels, headliner, dashboard and carpets all quite original and in very presentable condition throughout. Please note the car also has it's original spare wire knock off wheel and its original tools and mallet in the trunk.
