Ebay item 9/18/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-Coupe-64-1964-E-TYPE-3-8-VERY-ORIGINAL ...
Current bid $5,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1964 Jaguar XKE 3.8 Coupe
Very Original Condition
Good Running Condition
Drives good

Vin Number: 889421
Body Number: V6790
Engine number: RA 4097-9
Gear Box number: EB 11387 JS

Appears to be matching numbers but I'm not 100% positive

Reads 71,696 miles...Odometer does not work at this moment...selling "mileage exempt"

The car is white but appears to at one time be green...I found some paint flaking off the firewall and there was green underneath. I also found some green on the inside of the decklid.

We are offering this 1964 Jaguar XKE coupe in restorable condition. It's definitely been sitting around for some time. This car has been sitting in a garage for the last 5 years with the intent to restore but it never happened. We have recently restored this car to running condition. We have taken it down the road and it drives like it should. There appears to be a small leak from one of the carbs. It shifts a little hard out of 1st gear but 1st is not synchronized(supposedly this is normal).

Brakes: We have installed a new master cylinder and some misc. parts but the brakes still leak from the left caliper in the front. It does stop but not very well.

Exterior: The exterior appears to have been repainted at one time most likely many years ago. It defnitely needs a paint job. Like I said earlier it appears to have been green at one time. There are a few rust spots but mostly surface rust on a couple of edges. There is one spot on the driver's door that is rusted through but not bad. Same thing with the passenger door. The outside seem on the inside of the door is rusted almost through. There are a couple of dents in the driver's door and a few here and there around the car. There are quite a few paint chips around the car that have been touched up. The passenger door does not open from the outside. Overall the exterior is in good shape and shouldn't need any major work in order to repaint.

Chrome: The chrome appears to be original but I could be wrong. The left rear bumper is definitely in need of re-chrome. The rest of the chrome is pitted but is presentable. The mirror is also showing some pitting.

Wheels: The wheels appear to be original but are showing some corrosion(see pictures). The spare appears to be in good shape.

Gauges: Many of the gauges do not work. The speedo is intermittent. The battery gauge works and so does the fuel gauge. I couldn't get the wipers to work either. I also couldn't get the blinkers to work. I have not looked into these problems but I did want the buyer to be aware.

Underside: The underside of the car is very clean. It does have an oil leak from somewhere. The left front caliper also leaks. There are no major rust problems under the car.

Interior: The interior of this car is the best part...it looks too good to be true. I want to call it original but I don't know for sure. We have extra material and parts which indicates that it has been redone. It is extra clean. Check out the pictures...we tried to take very detailed pictures to show the actual condition.

Bonnet: The hood of this car is also in great condition. The normal problem areas on the underside of the hood look very good. I noticed a couple of very minor surface rust spots but nothing through the steel. The battery box appears to be in great shape and not rusted (this is common for these cars to have rusted battery boxes).

Driveability: Again this car does drive good and wouldn't take much to get it mechanically sound for a good driver. It seems it has some ball joint issues as well.
