Kensington MG Auction, Bridgehampton NY, 5/25/2002. Lot #31. Report:

Sony AM/FM cassette, wood steering wheel. Speedometer appears to have been zeroed after restoration. A very nice coupe, no longer fresh. Two dings on passenger side and a bubble behind driver's door; otherwise, good bodywork.

Car was entered in a BJ auction in 2001, not sold,

    Auction description and result:
1964 JAGUAR XKE SERIES I COUPE
    LOT #825 - RESERVE
    2001 E0308 CCA
    HIGH BID OF $24,000
    CYLINDERS - 6
    ENGINE SIZE - 3.8L
    HORSEPOWER - 265HP
    VIN - 889606

This is an early production model with the 3-sidedraft SU carburetors. The car was cosmetically restored 5-years ago and has recently had a mechanical restoration which included the rebuilding of the carburetors and the installation of a new clutch and rear axle. Many receipts from the restoration are available. The only noted imperfection on this beautiful Series I XKE, as noted by the owner, is a paint "bubble" near the left hood louver. Performance for these early E-Types included a top speed of 150 mph and a 0-60 time of approximately 6.5 sec.

Current bid: $32,600 reserve not met 17 bids, 9 days left in auction, seller buzzsaw2096vaw, car now said to be in Bronx, New York, mileage not stated.

    Sellers description:
This Jaguar was originally sold and remains in NY as shown by the manufacture Warranty. It shows the name of the original purchaser which I have covered in the picture out of respect for their privacy. All serial numbers match as shown in the pictures. I have owned this car for approximate 15 years and it has remained a faithful runner. During my ownership the only major work that I have done has been to replace the water pump. I have put Willwood brake calibers on the front but the original ones will be included. Other unoriginal items that I am aware of are an upgraded fan motor, electronic ignition and oil pressure gauge. Although the car dose run and maintains good oil pressure, It should have at least a complete tune up, and could probably use a carburetor rebuild. It will also require replacing the rear engine seal and the rear brakes leak.

As for the Body: there is both old and new damage to the center panel of the bonnet now covered with filler. The floors foot wells are banged in and rusty. I believe only the foot well may need to be replace and not the whole floor, but I could be wrong. The boot has some rust and old repairs but I do not know the extent of the damage. There are also many smaller dents and scratches which do not show up in the pictures.

The interior is presentable. The driver side seat shows wear and the leather has worn though on the seat back edge. dash top is perfect. The interior was probably re done at some point if I had to guess it would have been in the early 90's

Because this car is almost totally complete it would make a great candidate for restoration, or proudly enjoy driving it and fix as you go.

Sold by the E Type and Sports Car Centre of Soest in April 2019. Seller's description below.
    www.etypeandsportscars.com/1963-jaguar-e-type-series-1-3-8/

This Jaguar was originally sold to Audley S Powell by Jaguar Cars New York. Its an all serial numbers matching car and was owned by the last owner for about 15 years. It has remained as he said a faithful runner. During his ownership he pampered the car and replaced the water pump and put Willwood brake callipers on the front, the original brakes come with the car. We have serviced the car, rebuilt the brakes and replaced the coolant header tank.

The body is solid and the paint and chrome work is shining although it shows her age a bit. The E Type left the factory with an Opalescent Dark Blue exterior and a light blue interior. The whole car and its interior are very presentable. The interior was redone in the early 1990's in Grey leather. The car comes with some history, pouch, manual, original warranty certificate, JDHT certificate, original jack and hammer. This E Type will be a very nice high level driver for any collection.
