This 1964 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe was built on February 13, 1964 and initially distributed through Jaguar Cars of New York. The car was acquired by the seller in 2023 following a stalled refurbishment that involved refinishing the car in green, refreshing the interior with Biscuit leather upholstery, overhauling the 3.8-liter inline-six, and installing a five-speed manual transmission. Subsequent work included rebuilding the triple SU carburetors and replacing the front bumpers, wheels, and tires. The car also has enclosed headlights, a limited-slip differential, and power-assisted disc brakes with Coopercraft front calipers. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and Connecticut registration.
Finished from the factory in Cotswold Blue, the car was refinished in its current shade of British Racing Green following bodywork circa 2010, according to the seller. The front bumpers were replaced under current ownership and a paint correction was performed. The car is also equipped with a louvered hood, enclosed headlights, a side-opening rear hatch, and polished dual exhaust outlets. The windshield has been replaced.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 195/65 General Altimax RT tires that show production codes from 2023. The four-wheel disc brake system features inboard rear rotors and was refreshed and fitted with Coopercraft front calipers prior to the seller’s acquisition.
The seller reports that the interior was refreshed with Biscuit leather upholstery, carpets, and trim sourced from BAS.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter inline-six was shipped to VSE in Wales, United Kingdom, for a rebuild under prior ownership, per the seller, and fitted with revised camshafts. The engine was reinstalled with stainless-steel headers, while the triple SU HD8 carburetors were overhauled and the battery was replaced under current ownership. Additional equipment includes a high-torque starter, PerTronix ignition, a replacement radiator and cooling fans, and a negative-ground electrical system with an alternator.
The cylinder head stamp reads RA5638-9.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission that was fitted at the time of the engine work and equipped with a replacement clutch and pressure plate. The rear end, limited-slip differential, and half shafts were also overhauled under prior ownership.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
The chassis plate sequence 890110 prepended with “J64” is listed as the VIN on the Connecticut registration. The car does not have a title as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
