Sold by Graeme Hunt of Battersea in September 2020. Seller's description below.
www.graemehunt.com/inventory/556/1964-jaguar-e-type-factory-reborn
E Type Series 1 3.8 FHC factory reborn restoration. This is the first factory restoration car Jaguar commissioned and the third to be completed. The factory used the car for displays at classic motor shows including Le Mans Classic, Goodwood, Essen and the opening of the JLR Design Centre. The first post restoration owner left her with the factory and therefore she has done only 400 miles since completion.
Originally supplied to the USA through Jaguar Cars New York where she was owned by Mr Foye, a naval man stationed in California. He was relocated to Virginia in 1977 when she went into storage. Recently bought by a famous musician who imported her into the UK. Jaguar Classic then bought the car and entered her into the reborn project.
Finished in the original colour scheme of Opalescent Golden Sand over a light tan interior she is stunning to behold. The benefit of a restoration like this is that some modern developments can be sympathetically encomposed and these include tubular exhaust system, classic style stereo with modern usability, uprated brakes and suspension as well as conversion to right hand drive.
The low mileage and pedigree make this a special opportunity to buy an out of the box restoration. Jaguar have just serviced her and added a year's warranty. Complete with photographs of the restoration and signed book from the team who built her we think this is the best fully restored E Type on offer anywhere.
