Sellers description:
This 1970 Jaguar XKE 4.2 E Type is as solid as they come in original form. This Jag looks to have spent most of its life in the Pacific Northwest. When I bought it, it had just been revived from sitting since 1988 when the son of the second owner backed the tail light into something. They just put in the garage and hoped the tail light ferry would fix it. From what i was told this is a two owner car and has never been more then a cruiser. She has 103k original miles and most of the miles came in the first 10 years.
Cosmetically, she looks to have her original paint with some minor touch ups. The paint, obviously, has some road rash and some scratches and such but it could be professionally touched up if you are an original paint kind of person. The windshield has some cracks but can still be of service if your just looking to drive. The rear tail light on the passenger side is broken and one of the side marker lenses is missing. The wire Knock offs are in near mint condition and ALL THE TOOLS including the extra belt are still with the car. The chrome is still in very nice shape. All the rubber is very good and this one seems to be impervious to moisture.
Mechanically, she runs! I just got all the fluids replaced, all new spark plug wires, plugs and some minor adjustments. The car run 90% better with those improvements. The original exhaust has problems after the resonators and the exhaust tips are in a box waiting to be installed. The trans shifts very nicely and it seems there is plenty of life on the drive train. The tires look like new though they have flat spots. I thought about replacing but I don't want to pick out your tires though red lines look like the way to go.
The interior is all original and all there minus the original radio which was sent out to be repaired and never sent back. Getting a replacement looks pretty easy as they remake them and found a few on eBay. The back seat is like new and the front buckets only have minor wear with no rips or tears. The headliner is in good shape and the dash is very nice. The carpet is still in great shape and like new behind the front seats. The rear hatch area is still very clean and void of water damage or rust. All the gauges work as well do the headlights, blinkers and tail lights.
The body is very straight with some obvious blemishes but nothing major at all. No major cancer or under carriage issues. The spare tire area is rock solid and from what i understand that's a problem area.
Overall, this is an excellent candidate for a full blown resto or an easy driver quality car.
