Ebay item 9/15/04
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $3,000.00 (Reserve not met), 4 bids, 6 days left in auction. 37k miles given in desxription, likely 137k.

Sellers description:
JAGUAR 1970 XKE 2+2 4.2L Miles: 37,768 Transmission: Manual Engine: 6 - Cyl. / 4.2 Liters Warranty: No VIN Number: P1R43933 Title: Clear Exterior: Charcoal Grey (Orig. Sable Brown) Condition: Used Interior: Beige/Tan Air Conditioning ONE OF THE MOST ELEGANT & IMPRESSIVE AUTOMOBILES EVER MANUFACTURED! 1970 E TYPE 2+2 History of car: This Jaguar was purchased new in 1969 by my brother; I took ownership around 1977. I drove the vehicle through the 1980’s; It was garaged since the early 90’s. The last time I drove it, it was running great - no problems other than some interior wear. Although I would occasionally start and move the car, it has not been on the road since I cancelled the insurance. I recently replaced the battery and checked the fluids, needless to say, after all that time in the garage, I cannot get it started. The engine cranks strong, but I’m no mechanic, and I do not want to incur the expense to flatbed it to a mechanic. Details of car: 4.2 Liter six cylinder twin overhead camshaft, and 4-speed manual transmission. Original all-chrome spoke wheels. The exhaust system has rust, as do several parts of the body. The drivers leather seat is in very bad condition (really needs replacement); the other leather seats are okay but could use reconditioning. The dashboard and carpet was replaced (custom made) and several interior parts need fixing or replacement. The cover to the rear compartment (over the spare tire) is missing. The overhead liner needs replacement. The rubber seals around the doors, windows, etc. are worn and cracked. Some of the chrome on the exterior is missing or loose (ie: around the rear door window), and areas of the chrome bumpers are somewhat pitted upon close inspection. Doors, bonnet (hood) and tailgate (rear hatch) all have good alignment. Overview: This car would be drivable with a bit of work and is restorable for the Jaguar enthusiast. Anyone interested is welcome to check the car before bidding. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty or guarantees expressed, written or implied.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
