    Ebay item 2/9/12
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-jaguar-XKE-E-Type-2-2-4-speed-/220950727298
Opening bid $9,900, no reserve, no bids yet 4 days left in auction.

    Sellers description:
I'm selling this car for a friend who had started a restoration and then passed away from cancer. A lot of time and energy was put into the car over several years. It started as a near perfect bodied, running 1970 2+2 with approximately 40k miles and was dismantled, stripped to bare metal and then primed and painted in the factory original grey color. The engine was rebuilt and reinstalled in car (receipts included) and ran prior to the car being painted, along with many other parts that were renewed. All the parts seem to be there except carbs/intake manifold, front windshield, small chrome pieces around headlights (new chrome eyebrows and chrome fender strips are new and there), tool roll, and some various pieces of rubber. There are more parts than in the pictures. I have restored several Etypes and the body on this car is the excellent, never hit, NO rust, NO Bondo. The paint needs to have minor edge touch up from storage but is in otherwise perfect shape. A lot of re-chroming was completed. Emblems are new. Car is ready for finish assembly, nuts and bolts are there. All factory black interior pieces are there but will need to be renewed. Doors and hood are aligned and have a great fit (rubber still needs to be installed). Other notable things are the options of 4 speed, wire wheels, power steering, factory a/c, and power brakes, most cars of this vintage had automatic trans, manual steering, no air, and steel wheels. My friend was a big guy and this was the reason for choosing a 2 + 2 ...plenty of room. This is a great project where the hard work has been completed. With minimal mechanical skill and for the price, you can get yourself into a car that can be taken to concourse condition with not much effort and have a solid investment. Wiring harness, light lenses, and trim is in great shape. Tires are new and wheels will clean up fine. There is a new a/c pump and hoses with the parts. Exhaust system is also new however will need a good cleaning and repaint from minor storage wear. Bumper radius blades on all four corners are either new or re-chromed. Car has a free and clear title. This is a no reserve auction. I was going to keep the car and do some fender modifications and use it for rallies but after sorting it out, I thought it would be best served as restored to show, or drive. The car is in just too good of shape to cut or alter anything. Car comes with many extra spare parts and several new hydraulic rebuild kits. The fuel tank, rear-end, suspension, and many under hood accessories have been powder coated. Rear-end assembly has been dismantled, rebuilt and assembled. Car has not been driven since new front end bushing were installed. Car seems to be very complete and I have done my best to accurately describe what's there but this car comes with no warranty expressed or implied.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
