This car is currently undergoing complete restoration. The body shell has been completely stripped down and is about to get several rusty & damaged body panels replaced. It will be repainted either BRG or Willow Green, both of which were original colors for the 1971 Series 2 car.

The body repairs are complete. All structure forward of the firewall is new. This includes the bonnet, LH & RH frame rails, "picture frame", and bonnet support. LH door is also new. LH inner and outer sills were replaced, along with both floor sections under the seats and both footwells. Most of the RH inner sill was also replaced. LH cowl panel and partial LH rear fender were replaced.

Body is assembled and ready to go to the painter for cosmetic bodywork and paint.

Just picked up final item (bonnet) from paint shop. Volvo of Savannah Resoration Shop did an amazing job on the final paint and body. Painted BRG using PPG Acrylic Urethane with clearcoat. Absolutely perfect!

The car now has the rear suspension, fuel tank, fuel pump, new wiring, and part of the front suspension installed. The engine and transmission have been rebuilt, and will soon be installed.

After a 2-year delay due to new house construction, work has begun again. The first step will to install w/s wipers, water pipes behind firewall, then dash components, then the windshield, and then the engine. I hope I can figure out how to put the dash back together. Luckily, I took many photos, and made a lot of sketches as I took the dash apart (in 2004!).

Dash has been recovered with correct black vinyl, instruments cleaned, bezels painted. New Smith's reproduction quartz clock installed. New Smith's mechanical oil pressure gauge installed, since I'd like to know what the REAL oil pressure is. New plastic covers installed on rocker switches, as well as the surrounding plastic trim. LED bulbs installed for all dash bulbs.

Engine is now installed and tuned. Runs perfectly, after re-adjusting throttle bypass valves to bring idle speed down to normal. The new Smith's mechanical oil pressure gauge shows 50psi at idle at normal operating temperature. The new high capacity radiator and CoolCat cooling fans control temperature fine on a 95 degree day while sitting still. All gauges work, car is ready for installation of power steering hydraulics, as well as clutch and brake hydraulics and vacuum components. The next step is to get the car to move under its own power.
