This 1971 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe was reportedly purchased new in California by the current owner’s late brother-in-law and was brought to Texas in 2004. It is said to have underwent a refurbishment in 2008 before being inherited by the current owner. Finished in red over a black interior, the car is powered by a 4.2L inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. This Series II XKE is now offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner with handwritten records, refurbishment photos, and a clean Texas title.
The exterior was repainted red around 2008, and hand-written invoices and photos from the refinishing process are provided. Pitting is visible on chrome bumpers and other exterior moldings, and the seller notes some corrosion below the passenger side front turn lamp.
Stock 15″ wire wheels wear three red-line tires with 2007 date codes and one whitewall tire on the right front. A blue California vanity license plate is mounted out back.
The interior is trimmed in black leather with color-matched carpets and door panels. The seller states that the Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo and heater blower motor are currently inoperable.
Factory Smiths instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges to monitor battery voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. An analog clock is mounted in the center stack above the switch panel, and the five-digit odometer reads just over 98k miles.
The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six features twin Stromberg carburetors and was factory-rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. Drive is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
