This car did not come with the factory air conditioning.

I bought this car 4/14/1995 for $25,000. In 1997 I pulled the engine out to rebuild the gearbox and put a new clutch in the car. I decided that the engine should get rebuilt since it was pulled out anyway. I had Stew Jones rebuild the engine and gearbox for me, which cost $25,000 The finished engine and gearbox sat in Stew's showroom for many, many years. Over the course of time I had the body redone, installed a NOS bonnet on the car and then had the car painted. I had Muncie Imports reupholster the seats and had them install new vinyl on the dash, all around the clocks, gauges, and rocker switches. I replaced the door trim and replaced the wiring loom to the car. I had all the chrome bumpers front and rear re-chromed. The rear cage was completely gone through installed a 307 ratio rear end on the final drive. To match the rear end I installed a new speedometer that is calibrated for 307 rear end for accuracy on the speedometer and odometer. I changed some components to components found on the early V-12 XKE's, i.e. the actual Jaguar stamped cam covers instead of the Jaguar decal on the cam covers, the fiberglass shroud that goes over the radiator vs. the metal shroud , the early temperature gauge and the early time of day clock, no seat belt warning light in the car and the driver's side mirror is 1971 only., All the smog control has been taken off the car. Tons more items replaced with NOS items. The restoration getting close to completion. It has been the longest restoration I have done on a car - 23 years

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
