Ebay item 7/5/17
www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Jaguar-E-Type-Convertible-/332291044530
Current bid US $25,300 reserve not met 3 bids 9 days left in auction. Seller samspace81, 58k miles.

Sellers description:
This Texas XKE has been here since the late 70s according to owner history. From 2015 until this year, over $37,000 was spent in mechanical restoration work with verifying receipts. This is a mechanically sound example that is powered by its original V12 engine, recently tuned to perfection as well.

Trunk Wood Replaced & pan painted
Battery Hold-Down Kit Installed
Exhaust System Restored - Donuts Replaced - Manifold Repair - Exhaust Downpipe Replaced

This example sports its number's matching original engine with verifying VIN stamping. This example has already had a small fortune spent in restoration so it can be driven & enjoyed reliably.

The engine compartment houses the original V-12 engine that has just underwent an extensive tune-up. The Stromberg 175 carburetors were rebuilt & calibrated while the ignition system was gone through & a Crane amplifier installed. Please note the original VIN stamping and firewall identification plate posted in photos below.

The interior displays an excellent original dash assembly & gauges. The seating was removed with new seat cushions installed & the vintage leather treated with conditioner. The upholstery is not torn & displays some patina (age) to it. I again want to note replacement of soft rubber components throughout including door seals, fender seals & glass seals.

The car is very comfortable and easy to drive. Again, thanks to the extensive suspension & steering restoration. This is a factory air conditioning car. The system was attended to with a new drier installed & charge. It was working until recently. The air conditioning will need to be serviced & inspected for a likely leak somewhere in the system.

The trunk shows very well, with mat, color-keyed wooden spare well covering & matching wire wheel with jacking equipment. The spare well is solid throughout.

The undercarriage displays the rebuilt suspension front to back. This car received a new front subframe assembly, very expensive & all work professionally done. The original assembly was bent according to the owner. The shocks have been replaced front & rear along with the bushings throughout this car. The brake system was completely attended to with new master cylinder, brake booster, and lines. The differential & transmission were removed & rebuilt during the restoration along with the fuel tank. The steering rack was removed and rebuilt as well. Again, this Jaguar drives exceptionally well, much of this is attributed to the restoration work performed on it. It is a true driver's automobile. This is a car that would be perfect for an even such as the Hot Rod Power Tour.

This car was originally Silver in Color. The car was changed from silver to red some time in the 1980s, with the paint undergoing recent extensive correction that included the entire bonnet assembly being repainted. The & body are in very good condition. Note the door gaps, trunk gap, and bonnet fit as correct. The owner just spent over $6,000 refinishing & restoring the Bonnet paintwork. The wire wheels were installed during the restoration along with a matching spare. The tires are high performance Michelin radials sized with 205/65R15s all around.

The paint shows well throughout, any imperfections are relatively minor. There are no bubbles or corrosion bleed through to note.

The auxiliary removable hardtop is included. The headliner is showing its age & in need of restoration/replacement, but the top is really in good shape.

Lot 206 - 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster

Brooklands Motor Museum

September 22nd 2018

Lot Number 206

Registration FHH 458K

Chassis Number UC1S20839BW

Engine Number 7575465A

Odometer reading 58,469 miles

Estimate £47,000 - £52,000

Ideal Pan European tour E-Type

Comprehensive restoration completed in 2017

Matching numbers engine, gearbox and body

This brilliant red with black Jaguar E-Type was originally sold to British Leyland, New York and dispatched on 25th October 1972. A fully matching numbers example, this E-Type is a real driver's example with the combination of top down, V12 power and an automatic transmission for those cross Europe jaunts we all dream of. Between 2015 and 2017 over $46,000 was spent by the owner in restoring both cosmetics and a mechanical overhaul which included a rebuilt automatic transmission, overhauled fuel system and differential, the Stromberg carburettors were rebuilt and synchronized, valve cover gaskets replaced and engine ignition system updated. Further upgrades included aluminium XKE specific radiator and fan and coupled importantly to rebuilt disc brakes including master cylinder and booster with the power steering rack rebuilt. The list of works is comprehensive and inspires the utmost confidence with the current owner confessing to absolutely love driving this roadster. His plan was to create the perfect car for driving on the continent and having been recently serviced, with operational air conditioning, a rebuilt automatic transmission and the more modern V12 Series III upgrades sitting on newer Michelin Radials, this E-Type is perfect for top-down motoring to the South of France or through the Alps.

The car comes with the V5 registration document, MoT certificate, a vast amount of restoration invoices detailing the work carried out, Heritage Certificate and ownership history dating back to the early 1980's. The Series III derivative of the E-Type is becoming ever more popular due to the sheer drivability it offers and this is one of the best driver's examples available on the market.

Auction description:

The Classic Sale at Silverstone 2022

1972 Jaguar E-Type V12

This very smart Series 3 Roadster was finished in left-hand drive with automatic transmission and dispatched to British Leyland, New York on 25th October 1972. Between 2015 and 2017 over $46,000 was spent by its Texas-based owner in restoring both cosmetics and a mechanical overhaul which included a rebuilt automatic transmission and differential, overhauled fuel system, rebuilt and synchronized Stromberg carburettors, valve cover gaskets replaced and engine ignition system updated. Further upgrades included an Aluminium XKE specific radiator and fan, rebuilt disc brakes including master cylinder and booster and a rebuilt power steering rack. The car returned to the United Kingdom and was registered with the DVLA on 1st May 2018. The car remains 'matching numbers' and this, together with the extensive list of recent works, inspired the confidence of our vendor’s purchase of the Jaguar on the 23rd September 2018.

With an odometer reading of 61,548 miles, at the time of cataloguing, and having covered some 3,000 miles of enjoyable motoring, our vendor presents this car to auction with recent receipts of £3,000 for a new hood and re-foaming of the seats by Aldridge Trimming, retaining the patinated black leather. The exhaust system has been upgraded to a stainless steel unit, a retro-looking DAB and Bluetooth-enabled radio has been installed and a battery isolator switch fitted. A wooden steering wheel has been fitted for aesthetic reasons but the original steering wheel has been retained for the sake of originality. The history file includes the V5C registration document, MOT Certificates, a vast amount of restoration invoices detailing the work carried out, its Jaguar Heritage Certificate and ownership history dating back to the early 1980s. For those wishing to enjoy some Continental touring in a comfortable classic, we cannot think of a more suitable left-hand drive V12 E-Type currently on the market.
