    Private Party or Dealer: Dealer

This 1972 Jaguar E-Type roadster reportedly spent time in Texas and then Oklahoma before it was acquired by the selling dealer six months ago from its second owner of 43 years. Finished in silver over a red leather interior, the car is powered by a numbers-matching 5.3-liter V12 paired with a four-speed manual gearbox and equipped with a black fabric top as well as chrome knock-off wire wheels. Service in 2020 including flushing the fuel tank and brakes, carburetor rebuilds, electrical work, a compression test, and fluid changes as well as replacement of the tires, cooling fan switch, vacuum hoses, and spark plugs. This E-Type is offered with a tool kit and jack, a repair manual, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, service records, an inspection report, and a clean Oklahoma title.

The car is finished in silver and features open sealed-beam headlights, taillights mounted under the rear bumper, and fender reflectors as well as quadruple center exhaust outlets. The selling dealer points out dings, bubbling, and other blemishes in the gallery below.

Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels with earless spinners wear 205/70 General Altimax RT43 tires that were mounted in January 2020. The car is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, which received new hoses and a fluid flush in January 2020.

The cabin is upholstered in red leather with matching door panels and carpets. The dash features late-model rocker switches and a period AM/FM radio paired with replacement speakers. The dash clock and passenger-side seatbelt retractor are inoperable.

A stock steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. The five-digit odometer displays 15k miles, of which approximately 100 have been added by the selling dealer.

The 5.3-liter was factory-rated at 272 horsepower with a 9:1 compression ratio, and is equipped with four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors that were rebuilt in 2020 along with replacement of related hoses and clamps. Other service by The Vintage Connection in Oklahoma City consisted of fluid changes, inspection of the electrical system, replacement of the voltage regulator, and more according to included invoices. A concurrent hot compression test reportedly showed 130-140 psi in all 12 cylinders. Engine block stamp 7S7896SA matches the number shown on the chassis identification plate.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Leakage around the oil pan and rear transmission housing is noted on an inspection report from March 2020.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate identifies the car as a left-hand drive model with factory colors of silver over a red interior that was delivered to British Leyland Motors of New York in October 1972.
