Ebay item 3/9/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-Convertible-1972-jaguar-e-type-series-3-convertib ...
Current bid US $13,222.00
Reserve not met 7 bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1972 Jaguar E-Type V12 convertible in Signal Red with black leather interior, wire wheels, and automatic transmission. Odometer: 72,621. VIN: UC1S73626BW. The title is clean. My father purchased this sexy beast in 2000 at the annual Auburn Car Auction in Indiana. He drove it home to Michigan, put it in storage, then became distracted by other beautiful cars and never started or drove it again. When he passed away in 2010, I inherited the car. I had it shipped out to my home in California in 2012 and had to awaken it from its dozen-year slumber. After fluid changes and brake bleeds, replacing split fuel lines and sorting the ignition, I was rewarded with the most fun I've ever had on four wheels. Driving the twisties with the top down and listening to the glorious V12 roar puts a smile on my face every time.

I am at least the fourth owner, but I believe the car spent most of its life on the East Coast and in the Mid-West. The black leather interior, which is still in very good condition, was redone in 1992; I'm not sure when the car was painted Signal Red--I think it might have been delivered in Regency Red. From the images you can see that while she's not perfect, she's a real looker, with the very desirable Euro-style bumpers. While the V12 takes a bit to warm up, once it's going you feel like it will never stop serving up power. All the conveniences work--lights, turn signals, wipers, air-conditioner, horn--except the heater (don't worry, the engine will keep you warm). Are there any leaks, you ask? This is a 43-year-old Jaguar XKE, so of course it marks its territory with small coolant and oil leaks, but it's not nearly enough that I have to routinely refill as a result. The convertible top is in good shape, with no tears and a rear window you can see through. The boot contains the original jack, knockoff hammer, and knockoff tool--all in a pouch--along with a wire wheel spare tire. Sale includes the official Repair Operation Manual, the original owner's manual, and a set of new engine and dashboard decals from XKs unlimited.

FLAWS OF NOTE
-Bubbled rust area about two inches across on the underside of the body near the tailpipe (shown in picture)

-Jacking point near the driver's side firewall/footwell collapsed; it will require some sheet metal repair eventually (shown in picture)

-Rear bumper has surface rust on passenger side and needs replating (shown in picture)

-Small crack on rim of front fender on passenger side (shown in picture)

-Driver's seat has small damaged area on left rear

-Valve tap at cylinder 1B that goes away once the engine is fully warmed up

RECENT WORK DONE (all by me except mounting the tires)
-New fuel sender unit (6/2012)

-New nonstandard fuel pump (6/2012)

-All new spark plugs and wires (6/2012)

-New nonstandard ignition coil (10/2012)

-Oil changed less than 500 miles ago (6/2013)

-Fuel tank removed and cleaned (6/2013)

-BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires all around with less than 500 miles on them (6/2013)

-Installed SU carburetor conversion kit from XKs Unlimited (I have the original Zenith Stromberg carbs and they will be included with the sale, but they'll need rebuilding if you want to use them) (9/2013)

-New fuel tank drain sump (10/2013)

-Many new cooling system hoses (5/2014)

-Cooling system flushed less than 300 miles ago (5/2014)

-Drain and refill final drive unit with gear oil (6/2014)

-All new belts (10/2014)

-Power steering pump pressure reduced to increase road feel (10/2014)

-New outer tie rod ball joints from XKs Unlimited (11/2014)

-New power steering rack bellows (11/2014)

Opening bid US $37,500 reserve not met 0 bids, 9 days left in auction buy it now price $49,500, car now said to be in Newbury Park, California, previously Oakland, CA 70k miles seller lincoln1171.

Seller's description:

FOR RESTORATION, MOST WORK COMPLETE

This 1972 Jaguar XKE Series III Roadster is a 4-speed manual example finished in beautiful Signal Red over a black leather interior. It features optional chrome wire rims, stock AC and power steering. Engine and transmission are completely stock as is the interior which is in very nice original condition.

The E-type now being offered was originally a LHD 2+2 converted to a Roadster. Conversion is clean and professional. The car is running and driving although the car will require a full going through before use on the open road. The engine is nice and quiet and has good oil pressure, it starts quickly and idles smoothly. A full tune-up would further benefit the car.

This E-type V-12 is offered as a running driving restoration project (mostly complete), therefore it does have some bodywork that will need addressing at some point. This Jag may be driven and enjoyed while restoration work is finished. While structurally sound, it will require a pair of radius arms (rear) before high use. Both driver and passenger floors have been replaced as have several other panels in and around fire wall and transmission tunnel. Many other repairs and replacements have been completed, many new parts purchased and installed.

The car is currently at Sports Car Classics in Newbury Park, CA. Harry Fulford, SCS Proprietor, has had this car for over a year and has done extensive work on it. Harry is a recognized Jaguar specialist and E-type restoration expert. Owner is stretched too thin over several other projects and has elected to allocate scarce resources to other restorations.

This beautiful Series 3 V-12 represents an excellent opportunity to get into a timeless classic that can be restored whilst being enjoyed at a reasonable price. Review the photos carefully for detail.

The Jag is located in Southern California. Please contact SCS for further information. Call Harry Fulford on 805-454-9008 or 805-267-6795 with any questions, he will provide a clear and accurate assessment of work performed to date and required steps to finalize restoration. Potential buyers encouraged to see this lovely V-12 prior to bidding.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
