Ebay item 8/9/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-1973-XKE-V12-Roadster-4spd-E-Type ...
Current bid $20,100 reserve not met, 14 bids, 4 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
I've owned this Series 3 V12 E-Type Roadster since 1989. It was originally a California car. The second owner purchased it in in 1983, moved it to the midwest and only drove it during the summer. I am the third owner. It has not seen bad weather in the 17 years that I have had it and has always been stored for the winter, both in the midwest and since I moved it to Vermont. Note the underside of the doors - this car has been put away for the winter long before the salt trucks come out.
Known flaws include; a broken speedometer cable (I assume this is the reason why the speedometer stopped working roughly 100 miles ago - I'll order you a new one and include it in the sale), tired rubber door seals (visible in the photos as a small black line at the bottom of the door), a small crack in the front driver's side turn signal, slight mis-alignment of the trunk (boot) lid (my brother in law tried to force one bag too many back there), historically incorrect radio, standard Jaguar drips and leaks (buy a Porsche if you can't stand a drip on your garage floor), heat crazing in the paint on the hood (bonnet) air vents and in the 1 inch of paint between the rear bonnet vent and the windscreen (don't let anyone tell you that E-Type V12s don't produce heat), temperamental passenger side outside door lock - far easier to open from inside, sticking driver side seat belt inertial reel, a scraped rear underside surface of the right rear wheel well trailing edge (pictured), a clock that is correct twice a day, some chips, flaws and average touch up work on otherwise generally good paint, and, a tear of a couple of inches in the convertible top where it meets the rear of the door (my stupidity for breaking the basic rule - never move the roof until unfastening ALL velcro and snaps).
What is right about the car beyond its good appearance original rust free body and spirited performance includes, great leather (redone by the second owner), maintainence records back to the original owner in California, including the original manual in its factory pouch, the original sales brochure, the original factory tool kit, the original California license plate and a significant amount of work done during the time that I've owned it, including, but not limited to: new clutch, brake work, electrical amplifier (pictured under the forward frame rail - this is a factory kit that moves the amplifier out of its original location between the cylinder banks, where if you actually drive the car, you will fry your ignition), re-cored radiator, replaced fuel pump, proper Dunlop tires, additional cooling fan switched from cockpit (should you ever get stuck in traffic). This is a factory AC car, however I had the system removed for better cooling and performance - you're welcome to the parts and could reinstall a system, although I can't imagine choosing to do so. I'd believe I have a new set of factory knock-offs sitting in a box - they're worth several hundred dollars alone and are included as long as I find them. The flannel storage cover pictured in the garage is also included. The car is running in all of the outdoor photos.
This car is not perfect - please don't bid if you are expecting a 33 year old perfect car. It is, however great fun to drive and, like all well maintained E-Types, a beautiful car. Having owned it for nearly two decades, I assure you that this car can and should be driven - too many E's become garage cars. Buy it and enjoy it. What you'll get is a solid, fast, pretty car.

Sellers description:
1973 Jaguar E-Type 4 speed Convertible that I've owned for the last 10 years. I'm the 4th owner of this beautifully cared for classic Series 3 V-12 E-Type. It is a matching number, accident free, rust free vehicle in excellent condition. This classic also comes with a Heritage certificate. It had undergone a bare metal respray in its original Old English White using base/clear in 2008. A complete mechanical rebuild was performed in 2008 with upgrades such as, e-type fabs sub-frame set, up-rated torsion bars, aluminum radiator, stainless steel exhaust, tubeless wire wheels, high energy ignition system, s.u. electronic fuel pump, etc. The V-12, ZS carburetors, and independent rear suspension assembly (IRS) were rebuilt in 2008. I've driven it approximately 1500 miles since then and it does have a few minor imperfections in the finish from being driven. The interior is in great condition. New carpets were installed, along with a new canvas top. All chrome is original and in incredible condition for its age. This was originally an air conditioned car but I removed the system and stored the parts. I have receipts for all work performed and parts purchased.
This car must be seen and driven to be truly appreciated.
