Lot details

Registration No: EVN714L

Matching chassis and engine numbers with desirable manual gearbox

Freshly finished from a two year extensive restoration including original and new parts

42,000 recorded miles, heritage certificate and V5c document

‘EVN 714L’ is a lefthand drive, matching numbers V12 Coupe that was despatched new to British Leyland New York on January 30, 1973. Since repatriation in 2018 it has undergone an extensive two-year restoration, during which as many original parts as possible were reused, the engine overhauled with fresh piston rings and bearings, a new clutch installed, and the body resprayed in its original eye-catching colour of Turquoise. The vendor now classes the bodywork, paintwork, engine and desirable four-speed manual gearbox as all being in ‘excellent’ order, and the original Black hide interior trim as still ‘very good’. This notably smart E-Type is currently displaying a mere 42,584 miles from new, and is now offered complete with parts invoices, Jaguar Heritage Certificate, driver’s handbook, tool kit, period radio and clip-on door mirrors, plus an MOT valid until April 19 next year.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
