Ebay item 2/23/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Car has a buy it now price of $22,000 for 5 days. 81k miles.

Sellers description:
1973 JAGUAR 2 DOOR COUPE 2 PLUS 2 WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND V-12 MOTOR

IT IS ORGINIAL CONDITION EXCEPT FOR THE MAROON PAINT WHICH IS VERY NICELY DONE. THERE IS ONE MINOR DENT ON THE REAR FENDER (DRIVERS SIDE) WHICH I SHOW IN MY PICTURES. THIS IS A COLORADO CAR AND HAS NO RUST ON IT. I BOUGHT IT IN 1993 AND IT REMAINED IN STORAGE UNTIL EARLY 2009 WHEN I TOOK IT OUT AND HAD THE GAS TANK AND LINES BOILED OUT FOR TARNISH AND THEN INVESTED OVER $5000.00 IN REPAIRS. THEY INCLUDED REBUILDING ALL FOUR CARBS, NEW RADIATOR FANS AND HOSES, NEW SEALS, NEW BATTERY, AND TUNE UP INCLUDING CHANGING ALL FLUIDS. OVERALL EXTERIOR CONDITION IS VERY GOOD, INTERIOR CONDITION IS ALSO GOOD, BUT THE FRONT DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SEATS SHOW SOME WEAR BUT DECENT FOR ORGINIAL CONDITION. THE JAG HANDLES NICELY ON THE ROAD, STRAIGHT AND SMOOTH. IT ALSO HAS AIR CONDITIONING. THERE ARE NEW RED LINE MICHELIN TIRES ON THE ORGINIAL SPOKE RIMS.

Seller's description:

THIS IS A 1973 JAGUAR XKE E TYPE COUPE. THIS IS A TWO OWNER CAR THAT WAS STORED AWAY BUT STORED AWAY THE RIGHT WAY. GAS WAS DRAINED AND ALL FLUIDS WERE FRESH. THE ONLY LINGERING RESULT OF THE STORAGE IS THE RED LINE TIRES THEY DEVELOPED FLAT SPOTS ONCE GAS WAS ADDED THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP AND A FEW UPGRADES WERE ALSO ADDED. FACTORY REGENCY RED EXTERIOR THAT SHOWS WELL. THE BLACK LEATHER INTERIOR IS IN NICE SHAPE WITH SHOWING ONLY MINOR WEAR. THIS XKE HAS THE 12 CYL. ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND WAS BUILT WITH FACTORY A/C NOT PRESENTLY WORKING. ALL THE GAUGES WORK WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE TEMP.GAUGE. ALL THE BRIGHT WORK IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THIS ONE IS A VERY STRAIGHT OLD XKE. IT DOES RUN AND DRIVE BUT I WOULD GIVE IT A ONCE OVER BEFORE GOING ANY DISTANCE WITH IT. THIS XKE IS A RARE FACTORY A/C CAR.  VERY COLLECTIBLE CAR THAT CAN ONLY GO UP IN VALUE. AFTER ALL IT'S A XKE.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
