Who hasn't lusted after the E-Type? This one is a solid head turner . . . a beautiful Series III, V12 open two-seater convertible (OTC), manual transmission, factory air conditioning, hard top, soft top (with boot) all in excellent condition. In addition, she is equipped with upgrades such as SU carbs, electronic ignition, stainless headers, and adjustable shocks. With the discontinuation of the Fixed Head Coupe in the early 1970's, the new convertibles boasted a longer-wheelbase than previous models allowing for a bit more leg room. The Series III models were manufactured from 1971 to 1974 and only 7,990 OTS vehicles were manufactured during that time. Don't pass on this truely collectible automobile.
    $129,000 negotiable.

This 1973 Jaguar XKE is a US-market Series III Roadster that is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 backed by a 4-speed manual gearbox. Finished in Old English White over a black leather interior, the car is equipped with air conditioning and a black removable hardtop. It also features quad SU carburetors, a stainless exhaust, electronic ignition, slimmer chrome bumpers, and adjustable shocks. The seller purchased the car in 2008 and drove it for a few months before having it transferred to a private collection facility, where it has since been stored and maintained. This V12 E-Type is now offered in Sauget, Illinois with an owner’s manual, boot cover, custom car cover, and a clear New Mexico title.

The body is reported to have been refinished in the factory Old English White sometime prior to the seller’s 2008 acquisition. As a 1973 US-market example, this car originally had large rubber bumperettes to meet 5-mph impact regulations. They have been replaced with a set of slimmer chrome units found on early US or European-market cars. A black hardtop is currently fitted, and the black convertible top has reportedly been retrimmed.

Chrome wire wheels come wrapped in Pirelli P6000 tires, and a set of aftermarket shocks and springs are fitted. Series III XKEs came standard from the factory with improved brakes and power steering. The suspension system utilizes aftermarket adjustable shocks, and the ride height has been lowered.

The cabin features back leather upholstery, factory air conditioning, and a set of Coco Mats. A smaller-diameter Moto-Lita steering wheel replaces the factory item, and a more-modern stereo resides in the center console. 7k miles are shown on the odometer, approximately 100 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

In 1971 Jaguar introduced the Series III with the Walter Hassan/Harry Mundy-developed 5.3-liter OHC V12, here backed by a 4-speed manual gearbox. The factory induction system utilized four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, which have been replaced on this car by a set of SUs with foam-element filters.

An electronic ignition system has also been installed along with a full stainless exhaust. The car has resided in a climate-controlled collector car facility since 2008, where it has received fluid changes and routine service.
