Christie's auction, Pebble Beach, CA 8/28/1999 lot #31. Sports Car Market report reads:

"Chrome wire wheels, automatic, 2-tops, 8-track, A/C. 27,269 miles. Fair older repaint and left sill looks worked, otherwise original and very well preserved. Once a show winner, might still be with a lot of detailing."

Sellers comment:
This immaculate car was purchased from the original owner, who took delivery from Downey Imports in 1974. I have owned it isnce October 1977. The only items not original are the battery and the tires. It has the original window sticker, tools, etc. The car was national JCNA Champion in Class VII in 1981, 1982, and 1983. It scored an average of 99.93 over these three years. All documentation is available. This car is not restored. This car is a perfect automobile for the new JCNA 'Preservation Class' competition.
$75,000

Owner at the time Richard Darnell purchased the car from its original owner in October '77 with 22k miles on it after some work by Alan Woodard of West Coast British Cars in Costa Mesa, CA. The car placed first in JCNA Class 7 National Competition for '81, '82 and '83. The car was moved to Houston, TX a year after purchase. The article contains an image of the original window sticker for the car, the MSRP was $9,391.00 and the price with options was $11,199.50, engine no. 14693.

The car was mfg. in 12, '73 and sold by Downey Imports in Downey, California to Patricia O'Donnell on August 13, '75 with 76 miles on the odo. The color was Old English White.

Car is now in the Mallya Collection:

This car was sold new by British Motors in California to Ms. Patricia O'Donnell, who kept the car for three years before selling it. The second owner kept the car and used it only very occasionally, and by 1999 the car had covered less than 28,000 miles and was still totally original and complete with all the tools and 8-track cassette deck. This car was National Class VII champion in 1981, 1982 and 1983 at the Jaguar Owner's Concourse de Elegance, averaging 99.93 out of 100 points.

The car was purchased for this collection in 1999.
