This 1973 Jaguar E-Type roadster was purchased new by the seller’s parents at Marquis Motors of Laguna, Beach, California and is said to have been parked approximately 10 years ago before being inherited by the seller. Power comes from a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a factory limited-slip differential, and the car is finished in taupe over tan leather. This V12 E-Type is offered as a non-running project with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, registration and service records, and a clean California title in the name of the seller’s parent’s estate.

This example features US-market bumpers with rubber overriders, bright beltline trim, and V12 badging on the trunk lid. The black soft top houses a fogged rear window. A top boot is included in the sale.

Chrome wire wheels were a $160 option and are mounted with older Star Centurion HP whitewall tires that are in need of replacement. A matching spare wheel is mounted below the trunk floor. Four-wheel disc brakes were standard equipment. A leak is noted from the left front brake cylinder.

The interior features tan leather on the seats and door panels with a black dashboard and center console. Equipment includes an air conditioning system, a wood shift knob, a chrome handbrake lever, and a period AM/FM cassette stereo. A tear is noted in the passenger seat bottom.

A leather-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer, while an analog clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are mounted in the center of the dashboard. Just over 34k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer.

The Walter Hassan/Harry Mundy-developed 5.3-liter OHC V12 was launched with the Series III for 1971, and featured four Zenith carburetors along with a 272 horsepower rating from the factory. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The engine was last started approximately a decade ago according to the seller, who notes that fluid flushes and other work will be required before the car is run.

The window sticker shows delivery to Marquis Motors and lists standard and optional equipment for an MSRP of $9,746.50. An owner’s manual, stamped service booklet, manufacturer’s literature, and previous registration documents are included.
