This car was on eBay, May 2007. Seller's ad reads:
"1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 convertible
VIN 1E 15201
Engine Number 7E12856-9
Gearbox Number EJ13854
Body Number 6997
Exterior Color Beige
Interior Color Beige
approx 50000 miles
This is a fully restored Series 1 matching numbers car. The cylinder head and engine block numbers and gearbox number matches the VIN plate numbers and the VIN plate is the original plate as verified by the heritage certificate. The interior and exterior colors match the heritage certificate. The car body number tag is affixed behind the license plate. Please be aware that the heritage certificate is not proof of originality as the cylinder head and block of a replacement engine are sometimes restamped ( by an expert) to match the original vin plate although it is more common and much easier to just remove the original vin plate and rest amp a (artificially weathered) new plate with the replacement engine numbers and this the heritage certificate will detect. Many purportedly matching numbers Series 1 XKE's are in fact not and only a metallurgical examination will reveal one with restamped head and block as the heritage certificate cannot detect it. Unfortunately as the value of the cars increases restamping of plate or engine as mentioned above is more common. The number of true matching number cars is not that great .This is guaranteed to be a matching number car. The car was completely disassembled and the engine, transmission and IRS were rebuilt. The body shell was completely rust free. the underside of the shell was left in the original undercoating. The footwells were left as original. The remainder of the body was taken to bare metal and repainted in the proper beige lacquer. All new parts were used in reassembling the car suspension. All engine compartment splash panels are present. The cooling system and braking system were rebuilt The following systems work properly: charging, oil pressure, temp, fuel gauges, alternator, turn signals, emergency flasher, hi lo beams, running lights, door open and switched map light, interior light, horns, windshield wipers including park switch, windshield spray assembly, heater motor, tachometer, speedometer, emergency brake, all warning lights, reverse lights, license plate lights, choke and choke warning light , speedometer and tachometer. Carburetors rebuilt and ignition system rebuilt. Engine fires promptly and holds proper oil pressure, About 250 miles on strong engine. Clutch takeup is smooth, transmission shifts smoothly, and car steers straight . New steering column bushings , restored steering wheel, and working horn push. clock does not work. Original radio supplied with car but not installed. New dash cover, new soft top cover. new top and fully restored top assembly, hardtop fixing plates present but no hardtop supplied. A factory specification beige interior was installed. New under dash panels and hardura installed. Original excellent spoke wheels with new spinners. Original tool kit missing tire pressure gauge and adjustable wrench. Like new owners manual, lubrication chart, periodic maintenance vouchers, spare tire, original rebuilt fuel pump, original fuel lines in trunk, refurbished gas tank,. Good trunk wood with correct new trunk interior. The triplex headlight covers and chrome surrounds are new, the side windows are original triplex and the windshield is a replacement. Side marker lenses and gaskets are new. Bumpers and guards are triple chrome plated originals. All rubber is new . Bonnet and trunk and door fit lines are good. Car aligned and steers straight. This rare stunningly beautiful car is a pleasure to drive and should give many years of service"
