Opening bid $45,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. 54k miles.
Sellers description:
Car number 1E15293 is a beautiful example of the desirable Series I E-Type roadster. It is properly equipped with the 4.2 liter six-cylinder engine that takes full advantage of the double overhead cam design and triple carburetors. Capturing the full essence of the first-series car, it is the last year of the desirable covered headlamps and synchronized four-speed gearbox. These early examples are a pleasure for those enthusiasts that appreciate things ‘the way they were.’
This is a rust-free southern car that runs strong and drives well. It looks the part of a “Trailer Queen,” but actually sees a fair amount of road time. As any enthusiast knows, the best way to maintain an automobile is to exercise it properly. Finished in Pale Primrose Yellow with all new black leather upholstery, this is THE car of the ‘Sixties generation’ and is still viewed by most as one of the best looking sports cars of all time. It is not only an elegant work of rolling art, but an instrument to be enjoyed on the open road.

This stunning E-Type is one of the ultimate driver-focused built examples. Not only does the car benefit from a stunning exterior, the drivetrain was specifically built to be enjoyed on the road with reliability and comfort being the main focus. This roadster received a replacement 4.2 Liter engine which was treated to a complete engine rebuild at the hands of Carlquist Competition Engines in 2016-2017. Not only did the short block receive a rebuild, but the cylinder head was also refreshed making this long block ready for some serious road use. Practically everything under the bonnet was checked and either replaced or rebuilt including carburation, cooling and electrical. In addition to the extensive mechanical overhaul, the car received a large-capacity aluminum radiator to help keep the car cool on extended drives. The 4-speed transmission was also treated to a dedicated servicing including a new clutch and refreshed flywheel combination, as well as a clutch master and output flange. All aspects were checked and either rebuilt, refreshed or replaced as necessary.
In addition to the complex mechanical rebuild the car received, this E-type also received a detailed service on the rolling chassis and suspension setup. The exterior has an older repaint that still presents quite well and shows little age. Much of the bright work was replated in recent times, still showing excellent luster. Truly magnificent in its Pale Primrose Yellow over Black livery, this E-Type also has a black convertible top to match its wonderful interior. As stated by the included copy of its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the new Jaguar was completed at the Coventry-based Jaguar Works in April of 1967 as a factory left-hand drive Roadster and was distributed in the United States by Jaguar Cars in New York.
Today, 59,304 miles have been clocked on the odometer and believed to be the original mileage. This vehicle recently was prepared and driven approximately 1,200 trouble-free miles for the 2021 Sports Car Market 1000 rally. The roadster was then shipped to Monterey, CA where it was used as a daily driver for an entire month following the rally. This reliability is a testament to the great service and maintenance that has been routinely performed on the car. With this example presenting so nicely, and purpose built for reliable driving, this stunning and potent E-Type Roadster brings its new caretaker the prestige of the iconic model, with exhilarating sound and performance.
Saleroom notices
Please note: This Jaguar did have an air conditioning system recently installed, perfect for extended drives.
