This 1968 Jaguar XKE is a Series 1.5 roadster that was completed on November 30, 1967 and distributed in the US through Jaguar Cars of New York. A refurbishment was carried out in Canada between 2009 and 2018, with work including a bare-metal repaint in red and a reupholstered interior. The engine was rebuilt and the clutch hydraulics replaced in 2021, and the car was subsequently acquired by the current owner. Power is supplied by a 3.8-liter inline-six equipped with triple SU carburetors and linked with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, four-wheel disc brakes, and chrome knock-off wire wheels. This XKE is being offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with photos and records from the refurbishment, a Jaguar Production Record Trace certificate, manufacturer’s literature, spare parts, and a clean Ohio title.

Series 1.5 XKEs featured exposed headlights shared with Series II cars but retained Series I equipment such as a small front grille opening, turn signals mounted above the front bumper, and taillights situated above the split rear bumper. Finished from the factory in Carmen Red, this example was disassembled and repainted in 2010 by Moore’s Refinishing of Barrie, Ontario. A replacement black soft top, passenger-side door, and rear bumpers were installed at that time. An abrasion on the underside of the nose is noted.

Replacement chrome 15” knock-off wheels are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, and a matching spare is found in the trunk. Braking is through four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears.

The cabin houses bucket seats that were fitted with replacement foam and reupholstered in black vinyl during the refurbishment. Replacement door panels and black carpets were also installed at that time. Amenities include a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer. A suite of auxiliary gauges is found in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 59k miles, around 500 of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter inline-six has been fitted with triple SU carburetors, and the removed dual Zenith-Stromberg setup is included in the sale. The engine was rebuilt in 2021, at which time the cylinder head was resurfaced, the crankshaft modified, and the block was decked, bored, and line-honed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, which was fitted with replacement hydraulic cylinders in 2021. The trunk floor and inner side panels were replaced during the refurbishment.

The Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers. A reproduction chassis plate also accompanies the vehicle.
