    Ebay item 7/5/05

Current bid $17,600.00 (Reserve not met), 3 bids, 8 days left in auciton.

    Sellers description:
I have had this car since 1989. It was originally from Arizona or New Mexico and spent some time in Massachusets and Rhode Island where it was completely restored somewhere around 1979. I have pictures of that restoration and it was a very rust free car at that time also. When I bought the car, it was rust free and the laquer was checked and there had been a minor repair of the nose on the bonnet.

I have done a lot of routine (for an E-type) mechanical restoration since I got it----rebuilt rear end u-joints, brakes, stainless steel exhaust, windshield, Allison electronic ignition, fuel pump, redlines, etc. I did a cosmetic restoration down to bare metal about ten years ago with new paint. It was painted with acrylic urethane--solid paint, no clearcoat--and has a great finish (signal red).

It is mechanically very strong, reliable, runs cool and has 40+ pounds of oil pressure. When I bought it, it had 68,000 miles on the odometer. Now it has 88,670 miles. In 16 years I have never broken down in this car. The car is pretty much original. The numbers match. However, I took off the Strombergs and put on triple SU's. It does have an interesting dash. It is a wood veneer with mother of pearl inlay that was done by the guy who did the first restoration. It is pretty cool and I get a lot of favorable comments on it.

I also put 205-15 Michelin redlines on it which are wider than the original 185-15's.

The radio doesn't work and I never got around to getting it fixed, because I like the sound of the engine more than music. The car is very straight and the panels fit as well as they did when these cars were originally manufactured. The interior is in very good condition. The leather is from the first restoration. It was almost white. I had it stained to biscuit color and it looks great. I replaced the carpets and put new rubber on after I had it painted. I have new wool floor mats (that I don't use) and I had new boot cover made that is biscuit. I have the sun visors, but took them off since they interfere with my view of the road.

The top is older, but very presentable. It is weather tight. I have only been caught in the rain two or three times since I have had it. Once in a downpour and I stayed dry. Normally the only water it sees is from a hose.

The only real cosmetic flaw is on the driver's side door at the bottom. In the last number of years a few bubbles have developed. They don't seem to have changed and they are not soft. Just so you know.

This is a car you can drive and enjoy!
