    Car listed as sold at:
    www.britishsportscars.com/sold-inventory/12484026/1967-Jaguar-XKE/San-Luis-Obisp ...

    Sellers description:
1967 Jaguar XKE Roadster [note car is a '68 there are no '67 S1.5 cars]
    Vin: 1E18155
    Mileage: 77,186
    Color: Red
    Interior Color: Black
    Trans: Manual

A very rare 1967 Series 1 1/2 Jaguar XKE. This particular car is a longtime California car that we have known and serviced for many years. It's a very solid vehicle with no rust or sign of previous accident damage. The leather upholstery is really nice and soft. This car is priced very well for how nice it is. The car drives excellent and will make a great driver/show car for someone. It is matching numbers

    Car now offered at:

    classicjaguar.com/cj/mp68.html

    Seller's description:

This 1968 Series 1.5 E Type roadster has spent much of its life in Arizona and as a result is an extremely solid car with no obvious rust. The main cabin floors, major panels and boot floor are all unusually sound. The car recently moved from Florida to Texas and is being offered as a running and driving car with a fresh Texas safety inspection. The bright red paintwork is shiny and presentable, although several areas show imperfections and flaws. The leather on the seats has suffered some shrinkage, probably due to the Arizona and Florida sun, but is not torn or otherwise badly damaged. All of the chrome and brightwork is presentable.

The engine starts easily, runs with good oil pressure and the cooling system keeps the car cool in the worst Texas heat. Triple SU carbs have been installed in place of the original twin Strombergs, so performance is obviously much improved over stock. This is a car which could be used and enjoyed immediately while improving its overall condition gradually without taking the car off the road for an extended period of time.

E Types in this condition are in many ways the most sought after - solid, running and driving cars with good bones that can be bought for a small fraction of the cost of a restored car.

    Price: $59,500

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
