This “E Type” Jaguar has undergone a highly detailed re-commissioning over the last five months, it is offered with some work required to finish & all these details are listed in the section “work required”, this is a rare car that has spent 25 years in secure dry storage, it will be supplied with a "work sheet" listing the work carried & the work required to finish.

We are a Classic Car Specialist based on the south coast of England established 19 years, we value our reputation & will not waste your time with poor descriptions, please see our feedback.

This “E Type” Jaguar was acquired by the forth owner Mr N J Niblett in 1971, in 1979 after 8 years use the car having covered a genuine 78,000 miles was placed in secure dry storage where it remained until September 2004 (25 years).

We were delighted to acquire this very original & unmolested car that remarkably was free from accident damage or previous restoration work, our inspection showed that this car was original & correct in almost every respect, it even had most of it,s original paintwork, this “E Type” Jaguar Roadster is a matching No genuine UK RHD car, one of approx 236 of this model produced in 1967, this car after 25 years in dry storage required complete re-commissioning & overhaul, this work was started in November 2004, every effort has been made to keep this car as original as possible.

History
The Jaguar was first registered new in November 1967 to Mr R W Richardson from Newstead, Roxburgshire, Scotland, the car was then purchased in 1969 by Mr GD Castell from Hertfordshire who 2 years later in 1971 sold the car to a Mr K O`bryan who kept the car for only 2 months before purchased by the last owner Mr N J Niblett, when he acquired the car it had covered approx 42,000 miles & during his ownership & until 1979 he covered a further 36,000 miles including continental trips to Italy & southern France.

In 1979 Mr Niblett placed the car in secure dry storage, apart from being periodically started etc it remained mostly untouched at his property for the next 25 years, the car comes with a V5 registration document, old style log book, some previous MOT,s etc.

Re-commissioning & overhaul
The Jaguar came to us in a very original condition, it has now had very extensive & detailed work carried out by very expearianced staff over the last 5 months, it is in a “on the button” condition, it requires the bonnet to be re-assembled & fitted & the finishing paintwork to the car applied, some parts will need to be purchased & the details are listed below.

Mechanics
The brakes have been completely rebuilt as has all the suspension etc, many of the mechanical items were in excellent condition & these have been checked & re-fitted, the engine is the original that was rebuilt in the mid 1970,s & is excellent with a very good oil pressure, the gearbox & clutch operate smoothly, all the clutch hydraulics have been replaced, many other items have been attended to, far to much to list here, but include new nuts & bolts as required, bushes, rubbers, rubber mounts, hoses clips etc, keeping originality the objective.

Body & Paint
The car came to us with most of it,s original paintwork etc & was showing some signs of rust, it was stripped to bare metal & the following panels replaced, Nearside door, Offside door skin, Nearside & Offside inner & outer sills etc, rear quarter panel sections, floor pan sections, Nearside rear wing section, boot lid, all of this work was carried out to a very high standard, the body shell was etched primed, primed, all the minor imperfections removed & reprimed, all the shuts etc were painted with the original colour (Carman Red), at this stage everything related to the body shell was re-fitted etc & it now only requires final flatting & the colour coats applied.

Interior
he interior was in a very good original condition, the carpets & trim have been replaced but the seating, centre column, & dashboard are the original & correct, the interior has a wonderful patina, the boot interior has been replaced.

Work required
Some parts will have to be purchased, new tyres, replacement hood cover, steering wheel, windscreen washer bottle, front inner arch panel, engine under panels & some other more minor parts, the bright work will need re-chroming although in fairness some of it is in good original usable condition, but including the re-chroming the parts will cost in the region of £2300-£2500, this car is complete & all the parts are labelled & boxed, this includes the hood frame etc, there are many new parts with the car as yet unfitted, we are not aware of any parts missing.

The bonnet requires re-assembly, some panel work & fitting, it comes with the original top section & all the other panels required most of them new (including a rare new factory offside front wing), the bonnet will then need preparation etc & the car will then need it,s final colour coats,, it will then need the doors etc & the exterior re-fitted including a new hood, there will be some area, that will need minor fettling & adjustment so please expect this, but we expect the new owner will be pleased with the standard of work carried out to this car, any inspection is welcome RAC/AA.

Summery
This “E Type” Jaguar 4.2 Series 1½ is a rare vehicle, it is a genuine early production matching No UK RHD car, it is correct & much of it original, 25 years in storage had left this car in a wonderful unmolested state & we hope that the work carried out reflects this, we rarely see these early UK RHD Roadster & have never seen one that came in this condition, please look at all the photographs (enlargements), we will answer any questions you have.

We can arrange to have the work complete for the new owner, the car completed will cost in the region of £33,000-£35,000 & completion will be late June 2005.
