Ebay item 11/7/09
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Series-1-1966-Jaguar-E-Type-4-2-Coupe-Vide ...
Current bid $13,100 reserve not met, 10 bids 5 days left in auction.
1966, Series 1½ , 4.2, Jaguar, E-Type-Coupe. Her name is "Mara" This car has a newly rebuilt 4.1 Engine. Original, red paint job. The engine is newly rebuilt and has only 323 miles on it since its rebuild. This Jaguar has been garaged for the last 5 years and very rarely driven.
Very clean 1966 Jaguar E-Type. Body perfect and straight. There is no rust on this vehicle. the paint is not perfect. The hood has some depp swirl marks from a botched rub-out attempt, and the paint shows its age in places, but the body is sound and there has been no damage or repair. Engine compartment is very clean. The Cabin is nice and clean. The hatch window rubber seal is beginning to dry-out , so I would think about replacing it, but there are no leaks to speak of. Mara Starts, and runs perfectly. This car is smooth. Never driven in rain or snow. Car has always been kept in heated warehouse.

I think that's a Series 1, not a Series 1 1/2. Series 1's went into 1967 & I owned 1E32642 which was
built after this car & it was a Series 1.

The ebay auction ending 12 Nov 2009 had a maximum bid of $25,100. The car did not sell.
The car appears to be a 4.2 litre Series 1 with enclosed headlights and 4.2 style seats, etc.
However, the following features shown in the photos are usually indicative of a 3.8 litre engine:
Engine has a generator whereas all 4.2 litre cars had an alternator.
The inlet manifold and throttle linkage are the design used with the 3.8 litre motor (not used on 4.2 litre).
The engine breather pipe goes to the left like on a 3.8 whereas on the 4.2 it goes to the right.
Finally the ID plate shown is not attached to the car. It is a reproduction plate and the Car No 1E32244 has been incorrectly stamped in the Body No box. The Car No box is unstamped.
It would be interesting to check the engine number stamped on the cylinder head and on the engine block.
