This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I 2+2 coupe was purchased by the seller and refurbished in 1996, and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in white over black vinyl, the car is equipped with 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, Wilwood front brake calipers, dual side mirrors, an AM/FM/cassette radio, an aluminum radiator, and triple SU carburetors. This XKE Series I 2+2 coupe is now offered with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, car show awards, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.
This example was refinished in white in the mid-1990s and features a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, dual side mirrors, rear vent windows, a side-hinged rear hatch, and dual exhaust outlets. The door and hatch seals were replaced along with the headlights, and the removed Lucas headlights and seals will accompany the car. The front bumper and overriders were replaced under current ownership following a parking lot accident, and windshield washer pump does not work.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and are mounted with 195/65 Toyo tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with Wilwood front calipers, inboard-mounted rear rotors, and a replacement brake master cylinder. The removed calipers will accompany the car.
The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces upholstered in black vinyl along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, an AM/FM/cassette radio, and a heater. The sun visors were replaced under current ownership, and the removed visors will accompany the car.
The replacement wood-rimmed steering wheel was sourced from Terry’s Jaguar Parts of Benton, Illinois in 1997. Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer along with auxiliary readouts for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 69k miles, approximately 12k of which were added under current ownership.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory-rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The fuel tank was refurbished under current ownership, an electronic ignition conversion was performed, and a four-core aluminum radiator was installed along with an auxiliary pusher fan. Additional work said to have been completed under current ownership includes installing a temperature-actuated cooling fan switch and replacing the fuel level sending unit, fuel float, and fuel lines.
The cylinder head stamp reads 7E50275-9 and matches the sequence listed as the engine number on the chassis plate.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Records indicate the transmission was rebuilt in June 2000.
Service records, literature, and refurbishment photos will accompany the car along with a replacement dash trim strip, spare wipers, oil and fluids, a cassette radio, a hammer and knock-off wrench, the removed headlights and brake calipers, and a set of underbody air dams.
