This exceptional 1969 Jaguar series 2 'E' type fixed head coupe was built in November 1969 and delivered to Henleys in London that month. The first owner was a Mr. Douglas Jeffrey Quinn who took delivery in March the following year.
The car is beautifully painted in Dark Blue with the complementary Blue interior and in fact it has only recently finished a complete bare metal respray, thankfully with the glass out, and bodywork renovation when the colour was changed from White. There is a photographic record of this work and receipts in the history file show work totalling over ú5000 on the bodywork, ú2000 for parts alone for the engine and gearbox which was rebuilt in 1987, and indeed there are a further ú2000 worth of receipts for routine maintenance and mechanical work.
It is an original U.K. car with a mileage of 56000 miles which is believed to be genuine and this contention is supported by M.O.T. certificates dating from 1983. The car was laid up for lengthy periods and the history indicates that a mere 8500 miles was completed between 1983 and 1996. During this period the registration number was 2004 SC but in 1996 the owner successfully had the original number re-allocated to the car.
This excellent car is offered for sale with a full twelve months M.O.T. certificate until September next year, road fund licence until March next year, an extensive file containing a full record of the previous ownership, all the receipts for mechanical and bodywork, the photographic record and a Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Trust certificate and it will have driven from Kent to the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
