Chassis No 1R25265

Details
The 2 seat, fixed head coupe was always the prettiest of the E-Types. Purists will unswervingly stand behind the Series One but there is no denying that the Series Two was more comfortable, had better brakes and had lights that actually illuminated the road ahead. The changes made to the evolving E-Type were mainly safety driven and predominately from the American market.

Offered here is a S2 FHC, which was originally supplied in the USA and repatriated to the UK in 1985. Since the car has been in the UK it has had only two previous owners and has benefited from professional conversion to RHD, interior retrim, replacement, UK Specification, differential and recent cosmetic attention to keep it in tip top condition.

Described as being in good overall condition, the car is said to have provided the vendor with reliable and economical classic transport during his 10 year ownership.

Finished in the, quite rare, opalescent silver grey metallic with contrasting red leather interior, this very attractive E-Type offers outstanding value.

Estimate £13000-16000

Auction description:
Lot : 67
1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Coupe
Estimate: £20000 - 22000
Registration No: KJX934G
Chassis No: 1R25265
Engine No: 7R1584-9
CC: 4200
Colour: Gunmetal Grey
Trim Colour: Red
MOT: Oct 2010
PLEASE NOTE: This lot is withdrawn from the 21st July 2010 auction.

Finished in Gunmetal Grey with red leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "good" condition with regard to its engine, four-speed manual gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork. Believed to have remained with its first keeper for twenty-two years and to have had just three more owners since then, the Jaguar is further understood to have been treated to a "comprehensive restoration" during the mid 1980s which included an "engine overhaul". Acquired by its last keeper in 2007, the E-type is said to have been in "regular use over the last three years"; the circa 7,000 miles covered during that time being boosted by several trips to the Continent. Riding on wire wheels, this handsome coupe is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until October 2010.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
