This 1969 Jaguar XKE fixed-head coupe is a non-running project that was purchased by the seller in 1981 and subsequently placed in storage about a decade later. The car is equipped with a 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six mated to a four-speed manual gearbox, and work performed prior to the car’s storage is said to have included an engine rebuild, cooling-system service, and refurbishment of the fuel tank. This Series II XKE is now offered with a service handbook, partial service records, spare and removed parts, and a clean Kansas title in the seller’s name.
The car wears a faded and deteriorated silver finish throughout, with an offset maroon stripe running the length of the body and remnants of red paint found on the underside of the hood.
Debris is present throughout the interior, which retains worn and ripped leather upholstery, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a dashboard. Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a five-digit odometer that shows just under 48k miles. The seller estimates that approximately 100 miles were added during current ownership, decades ago. True mileage is unknown. The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six features twin Stromberg carburetors and was factory rated at 246 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The seller commissioned an engine rebuild after purchasing the car and states that the vehicle has not been started in 20 years. Additional work performed during current ownership is said to have included a radiator flush and relining of the fuel tank.Items accompanying the car include removed and spare parts,

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
