Ebay item 9/26/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-1969-Jaguar-E-Type-XKE_W0QQitemZ190254 ...
Current bid $17,100 reserve not met, 10 bids, 8 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
I have owned this beautiful example of a Series II E-Type for almost 10 years. I purchased it in Texas and had it transported to California. The car had undergone an undocumented restoration – the prior owner unfortunately had no records. But the work was nicely done and the car performed beautifully. The paintwork, especially under the hood was done extremely well. There is no overspray or paint on things where there shouldn’t be. Shortly thereafter I corrected a few things that needed attention – the A/C had a leak, a few interior bits and pieces needed attention. I had some wiring corrected and replaced a fuse box. I had the dash recovered because it had some warps. I had one seat recovered and had the sunvisors restored. I cleaned all of the gauge lenses and replaced the gaskets. I replaced the plug wires with the correct ones including the loom. I had the hood, cowl and portions of the lower side repainted because I tapped the car in front of me during a drive up to Pebble Beach and I took that opportunity to have some minor imperfections taken care of. The paint work was done by Hot Rods and Hobbies in Torrance, CA - they do true Concours quality work.
Throughout the years, I have done minor work to this car to make it as correct as possible and to enhance its beauty and functionality. I added the radiator stone shield – missing on so many of these cars. I added a modern radio/CD player – and I believe I have an original radio in a box someplace. I added the Michelin Red Line tires. I replaced the non-eared original knock-offs with the earlier eared ones for the effect – but I have the originals. I have all of the tools and jack equipment in new reproduction pouches. The fuel tank was sent out for refurbishing where it was cut open, blasted and coated. It has a lifetime warranty. The in-tank filter was replaced with the new metal-mesh type. All the tank seals, gaskets and hoses were replaced. I replaced the original steering wheel with a Mono Lita wheel – it has a much more secure feeling. I have the original wheel and it is in fine shape.
The car was transported to Texas when I moved there, and then to NJ where it now resides in my garage.
About 2 years ago I had a major restoration done to the suspension, brakes and underpinnings. The bonnet was removed and the hood hinge mechanism was blasted and repainted. Any cracks that were found (common) were repaired. All of the rubber mounts and bushings were replaced. The “picture frame” was removed, straightened and repainted. All control arms and links were blasted and repainted or replaced. The ball joints were replaced. All hoses, belts and lines were replaced. The brake pads were replaced and the calipers rebuilt and painted. The “birdcage” and rear were removed, cleaned and painted. Any frayed wiring was corrected. The undercarriage metal shields (which are commonly bent and twisted) were replaced. I installed a stainless steel exhaust system. All 6 shocks and coil springs were replaced. Wheel alignment was done. I’m probably forgetting some things but you get the picture. This work cost over $12K.
This Jaguar runs and drives about as good as when it was new. It runs fast and strong, burns no oil, does not smoke, and does not leak anything. It goes straight down the road and the brakes are firm and stop straight. When I bought the car, it showed about 5,000 miles on the odometer. The previous owner told me that the odometer was reset after the car was restored and the engine overhauled. Having no documentation, I had a compression check done and it was excellent. I can probably find those documents and get the actual #’s.
Things that need attention: 1) The A/C leaked again and rather than fix it again, I decided to hold off because I would rather install an updated new system from XK’s Unlimited. The compressor clutch was noisy anyway. 2) The rearview mirror is not original – I have a reproduction mirror but I have to figure out how to get the glued-on one off the windshield. 3) the windshield washer does not work (wipers work fine). 4) The A/C fan blower makes noise - sounds like a leaf might be caught in the blades. No rust whatsoever - when I removed the gas tank I cleaned the entire area and waxed the paint. Engine is original and color is original Signal Red.

This Jaguar runs and drives about as good as when it was new. It runs fast and strong, burns no oil, does not smoke, and does not leak anything. It goes straight down the road and the brakes are firm and stop straight. When I bought the car, it showed about 3,000 miles on the odometer. The previous owner told me that the odometer was reset after the car was restored and the engine overhauled. I had a compression check done and it was excellent.
Things that need attention: 1) The A/C discharged again and rather than fix it again, I decided to hold off because I would rather install an updated new system from XK’s Unlimited. The compressor clutch was noisy anyway. And even when it worked, the cooling effect was marginal at best due to the system limitations. 2) The rearview mirror is not original – I have a reproduction mirror but I have to figure out how to get the glued-on one off the windshield. 3) The windshield washer does not work (wipers work fine). 4) The blower fan for the vent makes noise.
This a very, very nice driver that needs nothing (unless you really want to fix or replace the A/C and washer pump). I have many more pictures, just email me and I will send them. The car is available for inspection in Red Bank, NJ. "

Opening bid $8,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Hartford, Connecticut.
Sellers description:
Gorgeous, signal red, Series II, E-Type Fixed Head Coupe. It has 7070 miles on the rebuilt engine. It has been almost completely restored (with two exceptions I will mention below). The engine and tag #'s match. The car is garaged year round with a cover, and in the winter it is kept within a rhino shelter car storage bag to keep out the elements. It is driven regularly about twice a month, but only in fair weather. The covers, paperwork, original steering wheel, original knock-offs (replaced by eared models) are all included.
The complete list of items that have been restored or replaced are too long to mention here, but I will list a few: A/C hoses and fittings replaced, fuse box replaced, dash was recovered, bumpers were replated, radiator stone shield added, tires replaced with genuine Michelin Red Lines, tools and jack in reproduction pouches, fuel tank refurbished with lifetime warranty, bonnet removed and hinge mechanism redone, all rubber mounts and suspension bushings replaced, the picture frame was removed and repainted, all control arms and links were blasted and repainted, ball joints and tie rod ends replaced, brake pads replaced and calipers rebuilt and painted, the birdcage and rear were removed, cleaned and painted, the cooling fan relays were replaced, the undercarriage metal shields were replaced, a stainless steel exhaust system was installed, and all six shocks and coil springs were replaced. The only issues with the car that I am aware of are: 1) The A/C system apparently did not work great before I got the car, so the compressor was removed (I assume to eventually be replaced) and I have never had it installed and 2) there is some minor corrosion on the left and right side floorpans. I took the car to a jaguar expert to fix the floorpan issue and he recommended that I don't bother with it, since he considered it minor
Most of the work was done by the previous owner. I am simply to busy now to give it the attention it deserves and would like to find a nice owner for it!
