Ebay item 6/2/10
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-1970-Jaguar-XKE-/280513650343
Current bid $9,000 reservenot met, 11 bids 2 days left in auction. 81k miles.
Sellers description:
We enjoyed driving this car for several years and planned to restore it totally when retired. We got very busy in retirement and do not want to see it sitting and not being driven! It should be driven and loved by someone who will enjoy it as we did. We have been advised by an expert to leave the car as is rather that tinker with it. It is an excellent restoration project as it has been inside and on blocks for the last ten years. This classic XKE has no rust, no bondo repairs and no dings! The color is original Champagne and was repainted in the 1970's professionally. The chassis has 81,000 miles and the factory-new-in-1976 motor has only 23,000 miles on it. It has a rebuilt master clutch cylinder to be installed and the rubber gasket kit for the rear window glass is ready to go. The original chrome trim and chrome spoke wheels are in excellent condition as is the telescoping wood-grained steering wheel. This car is a beauty and deserves to be on the road again!
This car was originally registered and driven in Germany. I bought it from a friend and shipped it back to North America. It is now stored in a garage in Maine.
The Serial Number is: IR27824

Advertised on carsales.com.au 10 July 2021, asking AU$259,900. The car is located in Adelaide, Australia. The seller’s description (edited) follows:
We hold the original warranty card and a Heritage Certificate showing that this car started life as a LHD version, despatched on the 23rd of March 1970 to its first owner, Capt. Struthers at the US Officers Mess, Heher Werl, Germany. The car returned to the States when his basing had finished.
This US owner apparently stored the car for some 24 years, before it was sold to an Australian buyer.
A comprehensive restoration was subsequently undertaken, and we hold many receipts from Jaguar specialists in NSW covering this process. Included in the restoration was an engine rebuild including balancing and blueprinting. The present owner has supplied a large file of photos showing the restoration process.
The car was eventually sold to its current South Australian owner.
Servicing and a major gearbox overhaul have recently been completed by one of Adelaide's leading Jaguar specialists, Classic and Sports Cars Boutique of Norwood.
